There are two ways to look at this place -
A. as a family tourist / trecker / sooth seeker
B. As a Birder.

A.
It is very calm and has a great view. Night falls are chilly.. and that is what is expected.

B.
A lot of birding activity around this place. They have two hides. Upper hide and lower hide. The upper hide has streaked thrushes, gray treepie, barbets, himalayan bulbul etc. While the lower hides get Kalij, White crested laughing thrush, black francolin etc.
In total a very good place for birding especially for bird photographers.

Rooms:
1. Basic with Basic Facilities. Air Blower can be requested on demand.
2. They have smaller rooms ( more of log cabins. They are pretty cold and have air passages as like other log cabins. )
3. Very clean and tidy.
4. Slippers available in case if you have forgotten to bring yours.

Cafe ( Sundown Cafe)
1. Very nice - neat and clean.
2. You can watch birder from here as well.
3. food is great. and it is served hot. You need to state your intention to have food before so that they prepare it. They dont waste food.

Resort -
1. it is spacious.
2. Lot of walking area and places to explore.
3. AT sunrise, you can get comfortable and find a place with coffee and bask in the sun.

Hospitality -
1. Very nice staff and courteous.
2. We were greeted with a smile and we were made to feel at home.
3. The respect of a birder is huge. They make all sorts of arrangement for you.
4. We requested for a coffee early in the morning at around 6 and they were happy to serve that with some biscuits. great hospitality.

As the resort has come into existence a couple of years back, they still have a lot of develop. But at this point in time, if you are looking for peace / birding.. this is a place to be.

The view and location is amazing. It's just 12KM away from Nainital and have lot of place around to visit. The staff is helpful and curtious. A must visit for couples. Also, there are few trekking options available around

This property which has come up in last one year or so pleasantly surprised us. After a terrible stay at Indian Savanna Bush Camp in Sattal we all were pretty excited after check in. It is a beautiful small lodge with 2 simple and 2 cottages with attic. Interiors are nicely done . Food is delicious and being a small place you can just ask them to prepare food of your choice. It is Located between Kafal house and Jungle lore birding lodge and as such all 3 properties look like part of one big property only. From the cottages you get tremendous view of Pangot valley and watching sunset from the sitouts is mesmerising. Sundown cafe ( eating place ) has been designed well and it provides you a place for just relaxing and listening to music. There are plenty of opportunities for birding which was our main aim for visiting Pangot. There is a beautiful bird hide lower down where we were able to watch and photograph many birds like kalij Pheasant, Black Francolin, chestnut crowned laughingthrush, brown-fronted woodpecker, yellow-breasted greenfinch, Black-throated tit, Tickell’s leaf warbler, Great Barbet and much more. We shall always cherish the time we spent at Great Barbet Birding Lodge in view of its serene location, wonderful accomodation, delicious food and nice birding around it. We are looking forward to visit this place again next year. I have still to find anything on negative side.
