Set lunch was good value

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Sep 27, 2024
The hotel has an old school restaurant offering a set menu on weekdays. There is also a large terrace outside.
We enjoyed our consommé, fish and chocolate pudding. The service is impeccable and there's a choice of wines by the glass. The view from our window table was perfect.

Very friendly staff, cute hotel, and located next to boat taxi and bus station. The view is wonderful.

I do wish there was a safe in the room. It is a bit inconvenient to carry all valuables all the time and safes are very much appreciated.

The shower was clean but the mechanism to hold the shower head in place did not work well. It would always spin and drop. I had to get wet, turn water off, soap up, then turn water back on to rinse off. This was very minor, but is the reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars.

Overall it is a clean hotel, with very friendly staff, and is located conveniently to transportation.

Room tip: They have older sockets in the room, but the front desk conveniently has adapters to borrow.

The hotel is in a very beautiful location, next to the cable car for the Regis mountain. The rooms were clean, but what surprised, no aircon, no kettle, no mini fridge or safe in the room. I understand the building is very old and protected, but when you don’t have even the basics, it's a bit disappointing. We didn't even have hot water on our arrival, and no one said why.

The city view rooms are to the main street, so if you like some quiet rooms, make sure to book with a lake view as city view is noisy. One good thing, the noise doesn't last too long, but since you have to open windows, you can hear everything from the street.

Breakfast was very basic and we usually never complain about food as it's always all depends on people's tastes, but this time even for us was very little to choose from.

Other than that, the staff was friendly and helpful.

Room tip: Avoid city view room if noise is an issue. Perfect to explore surrounding areas, especially Regis mountain.

We spent a night at the hotel, and really enjoyed it. The location is stunning, right on the lake and the only hotel we saw with its terrace on the lakeside. Before checking in we had lunch - there is a simple lunch menu. Layer we checked in to our room, which was cosy and inviting. We had a lake view. We took dinner at the hotel, a leisurely 2.5 hours by the lakeside. Very enjoyable. Breakfast finished off our stay - also good.

Just back home from 5 days at Seehof hotel du lac and can't wait to go there again. It was our third stay in 3 years. The hotel is in the very centre of the village, two steps from the boat station and the bus stop, but has a cosy and family-like atmosphere. This time, we booked a junior suite - a spacious room with a stunning view of the lake. The room has all that one can wish for a relaxing stay, the bathroom is large enough, with good water pressure. One thing that might be added is a little fridge / mini bar, especially relevant in hot summer. The balcony is rather on a small side, but just big enough for two people willing to admire the lake and the lights on its other side. Breakfast is simple, but good choice of cheese, sausages , fresh vegetables, fruit, excellent yoghurts, boiled eggs and croissants. Tea and coffee served by the hotel staff.
All the members of the hotel team are very nice, competent and smiling, special thanks to Kristian, Andrea and Serpa (hope I spelled the name correctly!) , as well as for everyone else who was on duty during our stay. Great job!

To add to that is that Seehof is one of the very few hotels in Weggis that are not separated from the lake by the road, which is definitely a big plus. You can have dinner on the terrace, literally a few metres from the waterfront and then fall sleep listening to the gentle murmur of the waves.

Overall , a great experience, we're looking forward to coming back.

Room tip: Go on weekdays - on weekends the village may be very crowded, book a lake view room (otherwise you lose 90% of its value!!!) Book directly with the hotel.

Dreadful. We have never walked out of a hotel before but Seehof du Lac changed that.

Electric flex with fuse wire to cover a cut, plug sockets with gaps around them, ripped curtains, ripped furniture, black mould in the shower and more.

Although outwith the control of the hotel, the town clock strikes every 15 minutes for 24 hours. There is a band room close by and music practice goes on for hours from early to late. As for a private balcony in our "junior suite", it was private only in that it is accessible from your room. Ours was cheek by jowl with the large balcony of the smaller neighbouring room and tiny. The table was rusty and not very secure. There was a wasps' nest in the balcony on the floor above, just above head height.

We were due to stay for 2 nights but left after 1 without even having breakfast. We had to eat at a local cafe instead. We lost hundreds of Francs as we left Switzerland and booked into a hotel in another country.

In short, overpriced, outdated, less than clean. It's telling that the hotel is not mentioned anywhere as a place to eat. Despite us telling a member of staff we were leaving, the hotel had no idea we had gone and emailed saying we were due them money. Quite the reverse really as they had an extra night of tourist tax and the prize of a night of accommodation.

This hotel is best avoided. We were looking forward to what was the most expensive stay of our 3 week trip but, in the end, it tainted our holiday. Switzerland will not be getting our customs again thanks to Seehof du Lac.

Room tip: Look elsewhere, like Austria.
