Another review refers to the experience of trying to walk up to the restaurant at night... This is true and a bit mad. There used to be a snowmobile service (and the possibility to sledge back hazardously in the dark). But the snowmobile seems to have disappeared. I wouldn't try to walk up a night. It's just too far and not worth it. And the sledging is best done with a head torch and some knowledge of the route.

But.... for lunch (access by ski), or if there's a snowmobile, or in summer (you can drive up), this is the most charming mountain restaurant with kind staff and delicious food. It's one of my favourite restaurants in Verbier. Thoroughly recommend.

Should it be the location, the terrace, the food, the decoration, I just love everything.
I went to La Marmotte in winter and summer and I have always found myself delighted by typical and refined Swiss food. I would say I have eaten one of my best fondues here. You definitely want to go to La Marmotte if you want to enjoy Verbier's landscapes and food.

Someone had recommended we go to the Marmotte for dinner so we called the restaurant and asked for directions. They told us it was on the mountain and that we had over 30 minutes of a walk up on the mountain at night. We inquired if there were any snow mobiles available/set up for people that wanted to dine at their restaurant. The arrogant response we received was something like "Everyone walks up to our restaurant!! There are no snow mobiles!".
So we rented sledges and started our walk. After 10 minutes of walking up in the freezing cold, between a steep edge that overlooks trees and in the absolutely darkness in the middle of the mountain filled with snow, with no warning whatsoever, three sledges bashed into us and knocked us over. Everyone was frantic, screaming and in a frenzy. We thought one of the people on the sledges had fallen over the edge into the trees. After 20 minutes of using our phones' lights and calling out and 2 people jumping into the trees below, there was no one except a sledge that had been knocked over that belonged to one of our friends. More and more people started coming down, as we all stood against the edge of the mountain to avoid injury, some with lights (which the restaurant hadn't told us ANYTHING about) some without, some coming at an incredibly high speed, others holding their dogs in their arms, and some skiing down.
We decided against going to the restaurant. It was extremely dangerous and someone could have easily been seriously injured and knocked over, especially from people coming from the restaurant who might have had a bit too much to drink. We called the restaurant to tell them that they should have lights, or make it safe to arrive to their establishment, the response we received was absolutely ridiculous, the woman said "Ok thanks, bye!", her tone as if she didn't care whatsoever, and as if this were a recurring issue they got from customers.
The restaurant does not provide a safe route to their location, with no lights or services for people go up and down, amd a dangerous long path to get to it!! We tried using the sledges to go back down and constantly found ourselves falling near the edge. I don't understand how a restaurant can be so blaze about the safety of people coming to eat their food.

Very nice coy mountain restaurant ideal for lunch. Located in Savolyeres. The views from the restaurant were wonderful. The food was excellent and the price was reasonable (by Verbier standards!!)
