The Garden Brasserie is situated in the Orsett Hall Hotel.

As the Hotel, the Brasserie pretends to be upscale, but as soon as you walk in you start doubting yourself. Don't, you're right.

I ate here, beacause I only stayed 1 night in the Hotel and it was already late.

The decor is old fashioned and complety missing the mark.
When you receive the menu, you know you made a wrong choice. It Looks cheap like a tourist trap on the beaches of Spain.

When you open it, you will find quite a good selection of starters and main courses with impressive names that are increasing the anticipation after you were so dissapointed. Then they get served.......

I only ordered a main course and was utterly disspaointed. Super small portions for a ridicculous high price. You get away with this if you cook Michelin star level and it is a fully intergrated dish.

You know where this is going, it was not.
It was just plane, no flavor and nothing special. The average pub around the corner will be better.

I ordered dessert as I had to eat something. Although it looked very impressive and chique, the flavor was again not there. Another dissapointment.

Combined with a poor wine it was just a poor sad dinner that just filled my stomac.

Service was poor, I continously had the feeling it was all run by first year students with no supervision.

For the pretentious place it tries to be it has a lot of home work to do.

I will not return, too expensive, very poor cooking and no atmosphere. I recommend strongly to go somewhere else.

very impressive grounds as you enter the hotel and the garden brasserie restaurant is gorgeous. Large floral wallpaper, impressive colourful chandeliers, colonial style carpet and chairs covered in florals and striped velour. Views overlooking the gardens lovely. The sandwiches, cakes and scones were good but when we asked if we could have more sandwiches (only 4 skinny fingers each) we would have to pay £2.50 for 4 more fingers. We were hungry so ordered 2 sets. Half an hour later they had not arrived. Trying to get the waitresses to order more tea and tell them we now didn't want the sandwiches was painful. The restaurant was only half full so I dread to think what the service would be like if they were busy. Admittedly we were offered a free drink but by now I was bitterly disappointed especially as it was a birthday treat.

Had a lovely morning in the spa, review done separately, followed by a afternoon tea in the Brasserie.
Brought some table decorations which is passed to staff on arrival earlier in day as the hotel don’t supply.
Staff friendly, service was a bit hectic at first as we had a table of 12 ladies ..passing round a tea selection, getting sandwiches selections ordered, who does and who don’t eat fish etc we did also have a vegan and a vegetarian tea ordered, (which 2 ladies said was good).
Ordered 2 bottles of procecco for table @£25 per bottle
Sandwiches tasty and fresh, selection slightly boring, also a small savour pastry nibble?
Scones were good, plenty of cream and jam
Fancies were a good selection... did take some home
Was a nice afternoon tea, would visit again

Lovely afternoon tea at Orsett Hall. Cakes were delicious and they had no problems catering for my dietary requirements. Very special afternoon and beautiful surroundings.

Visited at the weekend as a birthday treat. The restaurant itself is very nice, bright and airy.

We booked for afternoon tea, which is £20pp. The food was very nice, would have liked more savoury though.

The service really let the whole experience down. Our waitress (Alice?) was 'absent' a lot. We were never asked if everything was OK until we'd nearly finished. Never offered any more tea and had to ask another waitress. We also ran out of cream and jam for the scones as there was barely enough for one. Again I needed to ask another waitress and unfortunately she then forgot to bring it.
