Description: Nostalgic elegance meets zeitgeist at this Fünf-Seen-Land gem. Lovingly restored, this listed farmhouse harmonises nostalgia with 21st century comforts. The hotel is idyllically located on the small river Kienbach an on the pilgrimage path to Andechs that is fondly referred to locally as the „Holy Mountain“. The appointment of the ten individual and elegant rooms draws heavily on natural materials making them an oasis of wellbeing. Confident use of colour, form and materials has bestowed a very personal feel to the rooms whilst still focusing on the elegant synthesis of old and new. The Fünf-Seen-Land has a wealth of culinary delights for guests to discover. The chefs of the Chalet am Kiental conjure up a wide range of light, classic international dishes with their own trendy and refreshing twist whilst making full use of local produce for their unusual culinary creations.

Lovely boutique hotel with fantastic service and great, good sized rooms.

Nothing was too much trouble here and the breakfasts were amazing.

One downfall was no room service but they rustled something up for me and there were plenty of places to eat nearby. Didn't try the restaurant in the evening but I can imagine it wad great.

Would definitely return.

We stayed here for two nights. We were greeted by Maria the owner who was friendly and welcoming and spoke excellent English. The hotel was delightful with lots of interesting spaces and artwork. Our room was on the second floor (there is no lift) and Maria offered to help us up the 4 flights of stairs. The room was under the eaves but was spacious and beautifully clean. The bathroom had a big shower and wash basin. Good quality toiletries. Strangely though the tea making equipment was in here. There were large white fluffy robes and towels. The room was big enough for a family with a large double bed and a sofa which I think turned into a bed. The beams were left exposed and the chimney had been left in this converted barn. The room was really lovely. We didn't have an evening meal as the restaurant was fully booked on the first night and we ate elsewhere on the second night. Breakfast was an interesting affair with the food already on the table on a tiered 'cake stand'. Jams in the top tier, meats in the middle and cheeses in the bottom. Yoghurts and granola with fruit salad came in little pots also on the table. There was also a basket of breads. Fresh fruit was available and eggs cooked to order. Service was excellent. We cycled to Andechs from here and also around the lake. The only real downside to this was the bells from the local church ring every 15 minutes from 6 am to 10 pm. Lovely hotel, good staff and enjoyable stay.

We loved this hotel. It was small and charming, the staff are outstanding. We regretted we had only one night, as it was our jet lag recovery destination; had we known how lovely it was we would have stayed longer. It is easy as can be to get there from the Munich airport: just get onto the S-Bahn and stay there until the end; you are in Herrshing.
