Over rated, over stated, over hyped and over priced (like everything in cassis)!!!

This is actually a hostel (NOT a hotel) 1 tiny toilet share for all first floor 10 rooms! As a hostel you pay for what you get here. All staff smoking downstairs so constant waft of smoke. In the roof there's a constant smell of kerosene and diesel from the boiler. Don't pay €8 for supposed breakfast... A tin of cornflakes is put out the night before and an old coffee urn rattles in the corner. But if its a hostel you want, then as a hostel is ok po0r average. Having said that, why pay 1,000/week at the other rubbish hotels which are over rated, over stated, over hyped and over priced!!!

Cassis shocked me as there are NO cafes or pizzeria that sell any main course under €10 In fact there are only 3 "imparvenu", La Fontane" and bar beside Spar shop. There are only 2 bars in all of cassis that sell a half carafe of wine for €6 "imparvenu" and "La Fontane" again!! you can get breakfast for €5 (croissant+cheese, coffee, and ornage juice) at Spar café. everywhere else is aimed at people with more money than sense! If its value or fair price you want - avoid cassis. Most restaurants charge €100 for 2 people not including wine at €28/btl so it's important you remember La Fontane (near the fountain) and "imparvenu" near spar shop up hill. and Spar café. Buses to Marseilles, Ciotat are available but you will need a pilots licence to decode the local time-table supplied at tourist Office harbour. Boat trip advice - only take the 3 calaunque (inlet) tour for €15. lasts an hour and that's enough! Pay a local fisherman instead if you can €20 for 3 hours of fun. Vineyard clos Magdelane - do the wine taste, but not the tour.

As a student I had a BBQ on the beach and cooked up a storm. Btl of wine from Spar €3 and all food and nibbles €6. meal for 3 people and wine €9 on the beach! As opposed to paying €100 - €150 to grumpy arrogant bombastic staff of which there is no shortage! You can also dine out for free on the roof terrace!!!

Taxi - words of warning DON'T GET TAXI IN CASSIS they charge €150 to get to airport. Bus to Marseilles from Cassis costs €3 and bus to airport costs €7. Take a trip on the local tourist train. Good fun and only €8. Get a bus to Ciotat €3. all info at tourist office. 3 supermarkets in Cassis "Spar, Casino shop, U Express" the cheapest of these is U express and Spar (both on same street) wine €2 bottle, ready meals from €3 and fresh fruit. Visit the market every Wed and Friday. I bought an old flask to make tea in €3 as the tea in Cassis is dire.

Warning there is a very expensive wine-bar called "Divinio" run by a shaved head crook. he advertises €10/btl of wine BUT WILL CHARGE YOU €25 if you have it sit in. This crookery happens a lot in Cassis so be warned!

Visit The Biblioteque, back streets, and school (real life at its best). Overall I liked Cassis. Pity about the crookery, arrogance, bombastic rudeness! Never get a taxi, never dine out and never book a hotel. Stay in hostel du Commerce, or Camping Park and only dine on the beach, a roof top, or La Fontane or Imparvenu.

Room Tip: Common shared toilet from first floor rooms. Book lowest rate room as it's a hostel. It's as good value as the campsite in Cassis.

two good things about this place: LOCATION is a big plus and staff was nice to us. Otherwhise this place is close to being more of a "poor" than an "average". They advertise it as a hotel but in reality it has more of a hostel feel to it: shared showers and toilets and wi-fi only works on first floor or reception (which closes at night). No air conditioning in our room and both toilets and showers are poorly ventilated.

Hi, this is a horrible hotel, we had a room here, the room wasn't even in the hotel, it was across the street in a garage, yes really in a garage. It was horrible we left immediately. DONT GO HERE! If it couldn't get any worser the room had no locks, it wasn't clean.

This place is actually revolting. I went with my boyfriend and we aren't a snobby couple; we are backpacking and have stayed in some dingey places but never so gross as this one! The room stunk of sewage. We arrived in Cassis at 7pm so it's our own fault we got lumped with this one. We booked through the tourist office, walked across the habour and apparently they had lost the key to our 50euro room (in all of 3 minutes). The only room left was 70euros. We got angry but the host's response was to remind us that the whole town was booked out and noted we were going to have to stay no matter what price. Incredible. We ended paying 60euros.
The stench and the poor service make this place a write-off: don't do it.

Stayed here when I visited Cassis on a tight budget this summer, given the nature of the town it was a struggle to find somewhere reasonably priced but found this little hotel tucked away behind the main port. Its 2 min walk from the main section of the port & 5-10 mins to the slightly more upmarket beach round the corner. The lady at reception was lovely and v accommodating. Rooms were pretty basic and anywhere else i'd probably consider them a touch over priced, but clean and no real complaints. Well worth getting a fan as no a/c and rooms are quite stuffy. Stay here and there'll be more money for that slap up meal and a bottle of Cassis's finest Rosé, but luxurious it ain't...
