Logis de France - Hotel La Cloche is located in the town square of Obernai which is a popular tourist destination.
The hotel is set-up in a historic building from the 16th century, having 20 rooms which are located on three floors. The single room was of sufficient size, clean and newly renovated. The bathroom equipped with a shower stall. Although the hotel lies directly on the main road crossing the village, it was quiet at night. WIFI worked perfectly.
The continental breakfast was charged at € 7.50. It is abundant, served by the owner at the table. A typical, cozy, Alsatian Tavern can be accessed through the hotel. The restaurant is operated by a tenant. I enjoyed an excellent sauerkraut platter which was generously served at a fair price.
On weekends, it is difficult to find a parking. The hotel does not its own parking. Close to the Church in a distance of 100 meter to the hotel is public parking.
Hotel de la Cloche is a small, nice hotel, that is managed by its owner with heart and soul.

We stayed here for 4 nights in August as part of our motorcycle trip around France, Belgium and Germany. Hotel De La Cloche is rated at 2 stars, but we would rate it higher. It's an old building, so don't expect modern hotel layout and facilities. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome, and our limited command of French wasn't a problem, as English is spoken, particularly well by the wonderful Christine, who was wonderfully helpful. Our room was on the 2nd floor, there is a lift aswell as stairs, and thankfully had air conditioning, a huge plus as the weather was glorious when we stopped, and other hotels we stopped at were like ovens due to the common lack of air con.
We ate a couple of evenings at the restaurant downstairs, and thoroughly enjoyed the local cuisine.
Obernai itself is a lovely town, an excellent base for exploring the many wonderful roads by motorbike, lots of quality restaurants and bars. When we stayed, we were lucky that the Christmas market, (in August) was on, and live music and dancing took place until around 11pm. A great atmosphere and lots of friendly people. We will definitely return and look forward to staying at Hotel De La Cloche again.

Very friendly owners. The location of the hotel is fantastic. As the name says is in front of the belfry of the town! Rooms very cosy and good breakfast.
Spacious room. No safe in the room and good wi-fi. Hotel restaurant with huge portions and very good pork knuckle.
Parking not available but you can find public parking near by.
In spite of elevator you have to face a few steps to go to the room. For an aging couple with bags it was not very
The quest for the perfect bath:
In this trip I decided to start this quest and comment in the shower bathing experience. Let me explain first:- I am an old geezer and I have noticed that most of the hotels in Europe, especially in France, do not offer, like you find in the States or Brazil, a shower stall. What is offered, normally, is a bathtub equipped with something that plays the role of a shower, a sou-lhes.This means that you have to escalate the bathtub, get in and start your “shower”. An additional problem arises:- the bathtub floor is slippery and no anti-sliding material is installed. This makes your bath a slippery adventure and an equilibrium task and turns your exit of the bathtub a risky business. So I decided to put this additional comment in all hotels I stay and commenting how difficult the simple task of having a shower can be. The hotel de la Cloche offers spacious bathrooms, good accessibility to the shower but no anti-sliding material - a good bathroom, one of the best in this trip.

I have just been back there again, and it will always be the place I stay at in Obernai. It is an old family hotel, well restored and comfortably. The owners are so friendly. It is like coming home. We always order special chees for our breakfast, and they find it for us.
The rooms are nice and clean. We like to stay in the midle of the town and can follow life there.

Room Tip: A 1 would be with a nice view of market place, would like that next time.

On our way home from South of France mid November, we ended up in Obernai. Based on Tripadvisor reviews and availability of a room for three adults, we chose to stay in Hotel de La Cloche. As the hotel is located directly on the main square, we had some difficultied finding a place to park, but found a place behind the nearby church. The lady in the reception was very welcoming and helpful, explaining to us that there would be a market the next day, and therefore som parking spaces were barred.
But, she said, she would take a round later in the night to make sure that none of the hotel guests parked illegally, if we would just give her our registration no. What a service!!!! And she did it, and luckily we were parked outside the market zone.
The room was large, clean and well-kept. Bathroom was nice as well.
We had dinner in the restaurant, which was convivial Alsace-style with lots of bells (cloche) hung from the beams. We had regional dishes like choucroute and tarte flambee, and it was nice, but nothing out of the ordinary, and in particular, the local wine was not as brillant as Alsace wines can be. However, the staff were very attentive and friendly - four waiters asked us if we wanted dessert or coffee!
