The hotel is in a perfect location and there’s a tiny car park next door. Our reception was good and we were quite pleased with the room. It was spacious and the bed was comfortable. We were on the back so the room was quiet, but the front while having the views would, I suspect, be a lot noisier. It is an old world hotel. There aren’t many plugs for iPhone chargers, and the toilet uses more water than Niagara. If you’re in the wrong position you may get wet. There is plenty of hot water and I mean really hot water. Do not let a child. Loose in the shower! Breakfast was adequate and served by a most pleasant young man Angelo
That was the good.
The less good was that my companion fancied having a sleep-in but the workmen started at 7.15 in the morning. When they weren’t hammering, they were scraping. The noise was such that he gave up. We went to breakfast, and came back to find that the cleaning woman had pounced. We both needed the toilet and she just didn’t get that we wanted her out so we could be private.
The reaction of “Il Dirretore” was utter indifference. No apology, just an assurance that today was special and that would be no repeat. As for the Cleaner, that again was shrugged off. It was like being in front of a headmaster whose attitude was one of utter certitude and that the customer would take what was presented and like it. He was more concerned about when we were leaving. I really got the impression that he could have cared less, but only just.
It is for the above that I cannot rate this higher which is a shame. The staff are very pleasant, but beware, if the Senior Management are so self-sufficient, it does not bode well. I had not encountered this attitude in a long time. I was sorry to find it here. At these prices, I expect far more in this day and age.
