Picked this as it faced the beach. Had a sea view room which was small but nice. Very colourful hotel in a retro yellow and blue 80's style which we actually found endearing, especially as it was spotless. Staff aren't grumpy, just a bit formal in a hotel way. Short walk to town and shops. Couldn't fault it really.

The hotel is located on the seafront an easy walk to the old centre.

We were only staying one night, having flown in to Palermo and collected a hire car. We chose this hotel because it had free parking - not many spaces, but we got one. For a one-night stay, the hotel facilities were adequate and the food was ok, with friendly waiting staff. However, reception was staffed by a mature gentleman who was unwelcoming and, as he dominated the entrance foyer, he cast a shadow over all our comings and goings.

The hotel is in a perfect location and there’s a tiny car park next door. Our reception was good and we were quite pleased with the room. It was spacious and the bed was comfortable. We were on the back so the room was quiet, but the front while having the views would, I suspect, be a lot noisier. It is an old world hotel. There aren’t many plugs for iPhone chargers, and the toilet uses more water than Niagara. If you’re in the wrong position you may get wet. There is plenty of hot water and I mean really hot water. Do not let a child. Loose in the shower! Breakfast was adequate and served by a most pleasant young man Angelo

That was the good.

The less good was that my companion fancied having a sleep-in but the workmen started at 7.15 in the morning. When they weren’t hammering, they were scraping. The noise was such that he gave up. We went to breakfast, and came back to find that the cleaning woman had pounced. We both needed the toilet and she just didn’t get that we wanted her out so we could be private.

The reaction of “Il Dirretore” was utter indifference. No apology, just an assurance that today was special and that would be no repeat. As for the Cleaner, that again was shrugged off. It was like being in front of a headmaster whose attitude was one of utter certitude and that the customer would take what was presented and like it. He was more concerned about when we were leaving. I really got the impression that he could have cared less, but only just.

It is for the above that I cannot rate this higher which is a shame. The staff are very pleasant, but beware, if the Senior Management are so self-sufficient, it does not bode well. I had not encountered this attitude in a long time. I was sorry to find it here. At these prices, I expect far more in this day and age.

Great location on the seafront, free and easy parking was a real bonus. Staff were very helpful rooms were OK for a short stay, although plenty of storage space for the longer stay. Breakfast was good with a usual selection of eggs, meats, cakes and cereals.

With unobstructed views of the ocean from our balcony, this hotel enjoys the best location on the main road across from the beach. You can get beach towels from the front desk and walk across the street to lounge on a rented cabana chair on the soft sandy beach. So many good restaurants surround this hotel including a gelateria open late. The hotel has a grand ground floor with friendly staff, comfy seating with views of the ocean, a fancy restaurant and a garden where a light Italian breakfast is served. The rooms are large, efficient and clean, but the decor is a little outdated. We had a TV, hairdryer and refrigerator with a table and chairs on the balcony. Its a beautiful 10 minutes walk to the historical center or to the famous marina from the film Cinema Paradiso.

Room tip: Higher floor have larger balconies.
