The best way to explore the beauty of Moorea is on foot, up in the mountains. My partner and I took a morning hike on the Three Coconuts trail and had a wonderful time. The hike was a very good work out and a bit challenging at times in the heat but well worth it. We took plenty of rest breaks to catch our breath and take in the scenery and when we got to the top our guide treated us to sweet grapefruit.

Excellent guide known as Popo drove us around the island. Saw the falls, gardens and Tahiti Iti and stopped at a snack shack for an excellent lunch!

Erich was our host and picked us up to transfer us from near city center to Tahiti Iti where we needed to take a boat, as the start of our trek was very remote with no road for vehicle access. On our boat ride, our driver saw some whales and stopped to let us snorkel and observe some humpbacks. The trek was about 6 hours, and we were lucky to have amazing weather. It's one of the most beautiful treks I think I've done in French Polynesia, and Te Pari is wild, remote and gorgeous. Erich prepared one of the best picnic lunches and was a knowledgeable, friendly guide.

We did the three coconuts hike in Moorea. It lasted about 3.5 hours and you're walking all but 15 minutes of that time. It was also a bit raining for us, so regardless of the weather when you're here, I think you're going to want to have good shoes that you don't mind getting dirty and are good for slippy surfaces. As I said two sentences again, you are moving for the entire time, but the hike itself is not challenging. Michel, our guide, was very informative about plants we encounted and the island and made sure no one hurt themselves. This may go without saying, but you should definitely bring lots of water to keep yourself hydrated on the way to the top. We had wonderful time, and got some create pictures of the flora and of the views at the top.

We did the "col des 3 cocotiers” hike on Moorea. It was a great hike. The vegetation surrounding the trail is gorgeous. There was such a variety of trees and plants and Michel took the time to answer our questions and show us things we would not have noticed ourselves. The view at the top was beautiful even though we had a rainy day. The price is cheap for a half day activity and Michel picks and drops you off at your hotel. We really enjoyed the change of scenery. Moorea is such a beautiful island. Most people spend their days on the lagoon but the lush interior is really worth exploring too!
