Amazingly good performances from the two young actors tonight, with a very inventive and humorous script that never flagged for a second. And the use of props was also exceptionally creative - overall a gem of a play!
Very highly recommended for all ages - my daughter and I had a great time

This is a great little theatre and well worth a visit with a good pub next door as there are limited catering facilities on site. That is no problem as there are plenty of places for a drink on the high street and there is a good pub virtually next door. Have seen some great plays there and going again early October. It is close to the Underground so day public transport access

Went here to see a very good production of Terence Rattigan's play "French Without Tears". It is a small "in the round" theatre located in an old primary school which has seen some modern refurbishment but which sadly lost its Arts Council funding two years ago. Ticket costs are very reasonable, and the theatre is easily accessible, being almost across the road from Richmond station (mainline, Overground and District tube lines). Small theatres like this deserve to be supported - I saw the play "Pomona" here last year, before it was later transferred to the National Theatre on the South Bank. I believe it also has educational and community programmes. I am unsure if it has large refreshment facilities, but there are plenty of places in Richmond for pre- and post-theatre food and drink. I highly recommend a visit.

We saw the philanderer by George Bernard Shaw recently together with a concert by the Allegri String Quartet at the Orange Tree.

Both were excellent in their own ways. The Philanderer is an interesting exploration of relations between men and women and was well acted and directed.

The Allegri give regular concerts, mainly of Brahms, Beethoven, Mendelsohn etc but this time they played Benjamin Brittan's last composition which was challenging but interesting.

The Theatre is built in the round and was originally made possible by the local council as the planning authority. It is a gem and one can only hope that they get their funding back from the Arts Council

Inspired by its origins as an upper room pub treatre, this is a true theatre in the round, where you are no more than one row away from the actors. There are two floors and my advice is to stay on the ground floor
1. better view
2. closer to the actors
3 theatre lights are up there
4. and hot air rises
To sum it all up... it can get HOTTTTT up there.
I am a fan.... I try to catch a play here whenever I am in London... the plays are not equally good, but you get a real masterclass in acting.
