Visited the Imperial on Saturday evening - bad weather meant we couldn't get to Hei Hei in Newcastle, our first choice.

They were good enough to fit us in at fairly short notice.

Starters were Aromatic Duck ( very decent ) and seafood lettuce parcels ( very poor ). The description far exceeded what was served up, a mish mash of seafood, diced onions and a LOT of carrots, almost a seafood stew!

Main courses were chil salt and pepper king prawns ( excellent ) and chicken with spring onion and ginger. The chicken was so bland and tough we sent it back ( something I NEVER do ) and declined the offer of another course instead.

We had a couple of drinks, prices were very reasonable all round.

Let's put it down to a bad night for the kitchen staff. We know the Imperial can serve up much better food than this ( we've been a couple of times ) but I can only review based on the experience we had which was not good. Sorry.
