How this chip shop was rated number 1 on trip advisor beats me! We had take away special fish and chips this evening. The chip shop was quiet yet my husband had to wait for 15 minutes.

He brought the fish and chips home and it looked okay - a good sized piece of breaded haddock. However, it was so overcooked it was hard and dry. A terrible waste of good ingredients. The chips were no better, soggy and greasy. It isn't difficult to cook fish and chips and if they can't get that right, there is something far wrong. Does not deserve a certificate of excellence. We will never be back!

Hi
Sorry to learn of your disappointment when you recently visited us. We continually strive to produce a high standard of fish and chips as can be seen by previous reviews and are proud of our number one rating on trip advisor.

I will look into what has happened on this occasion to find out why we were not up to our usual standards and rectify any problems found.

Please accept our apologies and if you are in the area again please revisit the shop and I am sure you will not be disappointed.

The fish rates as the nicest piece of fish in the UK. Matches the harbour chip van on Syke and Rick Stein's chippie in Cornwall. The portion was huge. It fell off into large flakes. The batter was just added to the taste. Crispy and tasty. It was delicious. Make sure you don't miss it.

Large portion and very fresh. home made chips. And for us the home delivery is very important, we use the service if we don't want to cook and had a drink so can't drive to get it.
