I found the story plaques and recording extremely moving. One minor problem is that if someone is on a seat, you can't read the plaque. I'm undecided about the arch, although I felt that it isn't as bad as one reviewer has stated. I think it's more beautiful than ugly. It has lovely sea views nearby together with the Road of Remembrance with lots of knitted poppies along the hand rail.

A mostly quiet place to sit with your takeaway coffee under the arch listening to the soundtrack playing for you. Old songs from WW1 that the men would have known and sun g on their way to the horrors of the Western Front.

Quite a climb up to the Lee's but when you arrive the arch and it's seating are quite moving especially with the speakers playing the old wartime music. It is quite beautiful on a warm day but in winter it is exposed and can be very windy but this seems to add to the experience.

Well meaning idea, but such an ugly construction. No points for the architect, I am afraid. Folkestone generally is improving, however.

neath the soaring arch and listening to the voices telling the story of the many young men that marched along the cliff top and down the hill or remembrance is a spiritual experience never to be forgotten what a worthy monument to so many that left never to return . Well done Folkstone for providing us with such a place to sit and contemplate the sacrifice made..
