From our experience, I dont know how the spa has negative reviews.

Very friendly arrival staff who were our 'hosts' throughout the day. When you are given your locker there is a personal welcome note inside which was a lovely touch, along with a robe and slippers and fresh towels are available in the spa. We used the gym after our arrival drinks and biscuits, the gym is a studio gym and provides planty of equipment and space. The showers and changing ammenities are very clean and well stocked with indulgent products to use, my only gripe being that if busy I imagine these are a little cramped.

Pool area was well maintained and offers fresh lemon water and magazines, it was quite quiet the day we went which we really appreciated.

Treatments we had were a 'Heavenly head massage' and a Facial, the treatments were really good, the area you are taken to for treatments is really relaxing. The bento lunch boxes were delicious, a very good chef had created these and they were brilliant with a gluten intolerance.

The hotel itself is beautiful and walking through the main hotel to the spa is the nicest way to the spa area, we had a little snoop around the wine display and a very helpful and informative gentleman told us all about the hotel and its ethos.

Only other tiny gripe was the spa gardens, although offering lots of room and an area for outside lounging and eating, they could be a little tidier to match the hotel ground, there were a few big weeds that would take minutes to pull up. Some more pots and some maintenance would go a long way.

All in all for what you pay you get a real treat and we had a faultless day. We will return.

Throughly enjoyed the couples massage in the upstairs treatment area. The treatment room staff were excellent as was the beautiful massage. Thereafter was a mediocre experience. The spa needs an update in particular the pool & lounge area, currently like a Thai hotel from 1970. The Management should pop in the pool & see all the dust & dirt that ‘guests’ see from this this perspective, hardly 4/5 star. Pool a little chilly & area lacking in a pleasant/relaxed atmosphere. Lunch served in the Bento box was disappointing, shame on the chefs that serve potatoes looking as they should on one side until they are turned over & discovered to be burnt, same with the fresh pea-shoots on the top of the dish & hideous hidden yellow ones underneath...certainly won’t be rushing back. Attention detail lacking & staff with a past century sniffy attitude.

Treated my better half to a spa treatment and overnight stay here, and it was amazing from the very start. Received a very warm welcome from the member of staff at the front door, and again welcomed by reception. We arrived early as the spa was booked to start before our room was due to be ready, but was invited to use all the amenities while I waited. Our room was ready before 3pm and was upgraded to a suite which was a very nice surprise. Room was amazing and very very comfortable. We ate in the main restaurant and the food was of the expected high standard. Also my partner requested a cocktail which was made and back at the table within 5 mins, very impressive. Found every member of staff polite, friendly and treated us as valued guests and nothing was too much trouble. Can’t say we’ll be spending every weekend here, it was pricey but can reassure that it was worth every single penny, and will be returning at some stage for what we know will be a wonderful stay. If you want to treat the better half, then don’t hesitate to stay at the Vineyard and Spa

The food in both the bar area and the main restaurant was outstanding. The mushroom risotto was delicious as was the bream. The second night we took the Discovery 7 course menu with 7 different wines. William, Pino and Romain looked after us fantastically, giving us expert guidance on the wide choice of wines and where they originated from. Nice history lesson on the Californian wines and the painting is a joy to view. Lovely to try wines from places like Hungary and Lebanon. Again the quality of the food was of the highest order and every course was a pleasure to look at and eat. If you like great food and wine, would definitely recommend for a few days away from it with a touch of class.

Spent a wonderful night here recently after a spell of flu so the spa with steam room, sauna and whirlpool was very welcome. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Dinner was delicious. Great breakfast too with locally sourced ingredients. The room was so spacious although I think we were upgraded. Recommended.
