Hotel is in a good position. Hotel needs updating. Bedroom was Ok but the bathroom was terrible very small, the shower had mould and was extremely dirty. Shower soap tray holder was broken and the extractor fan was not working. Tiles coming away from shower tray.

I would be very careful price goes up when checking out, when booking, price higher, not initially agreed on booking.com!!! If there was an issue they should have notified you in advance. Accommodation is reasonable but not a friendly hotel if anything they have no time for welcoming their guest .

Just home from the Carlton and will never return. Our clothes still smell awful.Had to put the curtain up on a window that was broken and looked out on to a dirty roof and other rooms that had a full view in to ours.
Bathroom was behind a concertina door..Great fun! Good luck to anyone with mobility issues or claustrophobia!
Informed that there was no breakfast included but actually quite thankful even though we feel we paid far too much compared to some lovely b n b stops we have previously chosen.
Just glad the sun came out and there were some good places to eat.

Room tip: Don't bother

Great staff and bar. Had a lovely couple nights away, nice central hotel that is dog friendly. The bar downstairs is nice and nothing seems to be any trouble. Glad we managed to get parking outside otherwise this can be an issue, nothing to fault, clean comfortable and easygoing. We’ve really enjoyed our couple of nights stay. Would have liked bed and breakfast but there’s a cafe down the road that offers a nice menu

Room tip: Getting a parking space outside is tricky otherwise £6 a day over the road

We booked a de-luxe room including breakfast. The actual room was very small and in need of updating and complete redecoration. The TV was perched on a very high shelf and the only mirror was behind the kettle and tea/coffee. There was no dressing table or wardrobe shown as in photos on-line. The bathroom was very small, with an old plastic shower cubicle and the grouting is in need of replacing. There was no shelf for toiletries and the towel rail was rusting. The bathroom door was heavily finger-marked and had clearly not been wiped in a long time. We were handed our room key by the barman as the reception staff finish at 6pm and we were given no paperwork. When asked he said he didn't know anything about breakfast. On speaking to the manageress she advised me that they had no de-luxe rooms and therefore didn't understand why we booked one. She said all their rooms are standard and they don't provide breakfast. She was very rude and and said that these were "not normal times" and if we were unhappy we could go elsewhere. She said we would not be charged for breakfast, which they weren't providing anyway and that we didn't need any check in documentation. I met several people at the hotel who had experienced the same problem and who were very unhappy, but we all had no choice but to stay there. There was a ladder, pieces of wood, a glass panel and a mattress leaning against a wall in the hall and the carpet on the stairs was threadbare in places. I am surprised to find that booking.com are showing a photo of the breakfast, which is not available, on their site, as well as still advertising de-luxe rooms. The hotel is also advertising de-luxe rooms on line and their business cards in the hotel still say full english breakfast included. I would not recommend this hotel and they and Booking.com are definitely mis-representing what is available for guests.

Room tip: Don't think there are any!
