The atmosphere of the restaurant is really nice
The dishes were delicious, fresh and colorful.
However, we had to wait for a very long time between the dishes, although the restaurant wasn't full.
We had dinner at Salonplafond earlier tonite. The location is along the Mak museum. When you enter the restaurant one appreciates the highly vaulted ceilings. It’s very unusual for a restaurant.
Our server was not the friendliest on the planet. Once seated she dropped the menus off. She didn’t bother to introduce herself or ask how we are going or what brings us to this restaurant. You can clearly tell we are tourist. She would periodically stop by to take our order and drop the dishes off. Didn’t stop by in between to see how we were doing.
The whiskey menu is limited to 3 choices. The food menu is pretty restricted too, but everything we ordered was good. I would recommend the Goat cheese with beets as an app. It was very good. The tartar of Char was very good too. For dinner I ordered the rib eye steak which was ok. Not worth the money.
For dessert we ordered the Snickers ice cream which was absolutely awesome. All in all it was ok. I would not go back again or go out of my way to make a reservation here.
Tried Salonplafond for lunch on a Saturday lunch - very pleasant and we were served excellent 'comfort food' by friendly servers. The portions are large and the taste of the food served was above average. we tried a beef tartare, a mixed salad, Wiener Schnitzel and baked salmon - all prepared perfectly! A very enjoyable lunch and if you are looking for a comfortable, casual and even inexpensive meal, Salonplafond will not disappoint you.
Our hotel recommended this restaurant, we were 2 couples and we all thoroughly enjoyed the lively atmosphere, the service and of course the contemporary menu especially the octopus main for 2. It would have been hard to find if we were not told it was in the museum. The restaurant was warm in its decor and very comfortable and the staff were very helpful and friendly (enjoyed the Austrian wine they suggested) making it a wonderful dining experience.
