Some may name it the center of Middle Europe. Not sure if so, but certainly a Pedestrian area, which should be seen during a Vienna visit.

Very busy, and very touristic.

The Stephan’s doom (cathedral) is not the largest, but impressive.

For a drink, find any terrace. For a lunch or dinner, there is plenty of good supply around the side streets.

Take the subway to “Karlsplatz”, walk towards “Stephans platz”. Firstly find The Vienna Opera, and the “Sacher hotel”. You may combine with walking for viewing the “Wien Hofburg” and its surroundings. It can make sense to Google the Vienna history a bit on beforehand.

You will need a couple of hours, to half a day.

Stephansplatz is one of the best known squares in Vienna as it’s a bit of a tourist hub and the location of St Stephen Cathedral. Plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants at tourist prices.

It’s a busy square.

Lovely square dominated by the cathedral. Seating so you can sit and watch the world go by. Lots of horse and carriages waiting for tourists to take a ride. Very pleasant area.

When you are walking in the historic and beautiful Vienna City Center, you will also see the Stephan Platz with its beautiful streets, gorgeously looking buildings, fantastic St. Stephen's Cathedral, golden Plague Column, Hofburg Palace, Sisi Museum and Kaiser apartments, vibrant and busy cafes, restaurants, and shops. You can spend several hours over there and not get tired. We spent many hours over the course of two days in Stephan Platz and surrounding area as part of our Vienna City Center walk and visit of St. Stephen's Cathedral, Hofburg Palace, Sisi Museum and Kaiser apartments. We enjoyed it very much and highly recommend it. Go to Stephansplatz when in Vienna and have lots of fun!

Better than the Platz, just around the corner on Singerstrasse or Graben is the pedestrianized street that is full of life! outdoor restaurants, sculpture, city lights and life, just lots of life. Shops and lots of little streets that shoot off of it with their own story to tell. Sorry to say, better than Neuhasuer Strasse in Munich. But the Ratthaus in Muncih is better than St. Stephas cathedral with the glockenspiel.

Both are a "must" for that pedestrian experience.
