Best exhibits. Definitely, a must visit for art lovers. It has nothing much to offer for general visitors.

They have exhibits worth seeing especially the Klimt mural. It is definitely the highlight of the museum but other exhibits are also interesting to see. Take an hour to visit the museum and enjoy the open spaces inside - give the Klimt mural time to soak in - get an audio device to explain this amazing piece of art.

Klimt's Beethoven frieze is not quite what you expect- high in the wall it seems unfinished but on closer inspection it is full of symbolism and incredibly powerful. It is housed downstairs in what must be one of the first white box gallery spaces. The facade is stunning and many tourists stand across the busy main road taking pictures but few go inside . Please do and take a moment to think of the impact this whole movement must have had on Vienna- scandalous. If nothing else the Gorilla and the opulent figure beside it are completely disturbing- food for thought especially in our modern times of excess.

We went just to see the Klimt fresco which is downstairs. The rest of the exhibits were all modern art and although interesting not really for me.

The building itself is stunning so just walking round the outside is worth it and that is free. Was a little pricey for what is actually inside. But we’d have paid regardless to see the Beethoven frieze by Klimt.

Wonderful building that is critically important for development of Art Nouveau and Modern Architecture. You can walk around the beautiful structure or go in if you want to see the Klimt freeze. The temporary exhibits were, unfortunately, not at all to our taste.
