Myself and husband (age 34/36) and two children (age 5/2) travelled to the Aloe hotel on a last minute get away on a all inclusive basis. I’ll go through our experience in a honest opinion.

I’d also like to state that we are use to staying in Iberostar chain hotels and have never ventured away until this stay.

ARRIVAL
we were greeted by two very welcoming staff members who helped us to our room because of the amount of luggage we had. This was a welcoming surprise and the gentleman was amazing with the children after such a long flight and two grumpy kids.

ROOM
The room was very clean but basic. We found the beds very large and comfortable. We had a sea view which was lovely (be aware that there is a hotel being built over the road so blocks some of the view) the room has a flat screen tv (English Channel is news only) you can upgrade for a extra charge for more channels. The room also contained a hairdryer, toiletries, fridge and safe. Balcony was large with table and chairs. The shower is powerful and always had hot water. The kids loved the bath and it’s deep. Good plug points next to mirrors for getting ready.
Towels were changed daily and toiletries topped up. There is no kettle or iron so go prepared. We was located at the front of the hotel which has a car park across the road- now this isn’t the hotels fault and is completely out of their hands but it’s like a scene out of the fast and furious! My son loved it but I tired of it quickly when some nights it’s went on till 2 in the morning. The staff was great when we mentioned this and offered us a different room straight away but my son was attached to the room so we chose not to.

Food-
BREAKFAST
This was the same each morning and consisted of, cereal, pancakes, cold meats, toast, eggs, bacon, beans, sausages, tomatoes, boiled eggs and scrambled eggs. All very nice. The only issue at breakfast was that the orange/apple/grapefruit juice was all watered down and tasted awful so the kids had to wait till 10am for the bar to open to get a drink which was a long time when we ate breakfast at 7am each morning. We ended up having to buy this ourself a from the shops.

LUNCH
Very much the same each day and was the same variety as dinner. We skipped dinner most days.

DINNER
Note- all men MUST wear long trousers in the restaurant and bar.
On arrival to the restaurant you was greeted by very warm hearted staff who absolutely loved the children. They would seat you at your table and get you yours drinks.
food was buffet style but was not to our taste and there was little variety for children. Food consisted of vegetables and meat (in a sauce) which the kids soon got board of. There was a large amount of salad to choose from with mixed pastas but nothing was labelled. I had the soup most evenings. There was a good choice of desserts including ice cream.

We did eat out on three occasions.

ENTERTAINMENT
we are use to exceptional entertainment so this was possibly the weakest part of the hotel. There is no animation team and no real entertainment as such. We was out of season but most of the hotel around us had some form of entertainment. For the weeks stay I think there might of been 3/4 night of someone playing music off a laptop and one lady singer.

POOL
Now the pool area is amazing! There’s what I would call a adults only pool with a lot of sun beds. This is close to the outside toilets. On the next level up there is a very large pool which is perfect for children with a gradual slope so wasn’t too deep until you went further out. Towels were free of charge and could be changed each day. There is also another little pool which is located near the toilets.
Away from the pool is a lovely grassed area and park with plenty of sun lounges (I’ve actually never seen so many!!) they also have tennis courts which is free to use if you go to reception.

ALL INCLUSIVE
Only local drinks are included and all branded drinks will be charged for. Local brands where fine in all honesty.
Room service is available but will be chargeable. Water is also not included. Tea and coffee facilities can be put into rooms at a cost of €4 a day I believe.

FACILITIES
there is great seating areas within the lobby area. Some quite places to sit and read and some sociable seating at the other end.
There is a indoor pool which is lovely if you get a rainy day (we didn’t use this) gym, ping pong, sauna, jacuzzi and tennis.

STAFF
This hotel will stand out in future memories for how lovely the staff members are!! I want to say a big thank you to you all, especially Mimi who looked after us throughout our stay! You all work so hard and was always so happy to see us.

I also took Ill whilst away and the reception staff went out of there way to help get me sorted and then checked back in with me to make sure everything was ok. We have never had such great customer service. Well done to you all.

Would we return? Unfortunately not, I would say it caters more for the older generation. This is not a family hotel but we was still made to feel welcome and from speaking to a lot of the guests they totally agreed but said it was a joy watching the children

Stayed: March 2018, traveled with family

The team feels much honored to hear that you were very happy with the level of hospitality provided, it is a genuine pleasure for us and our aim is for all of our guests to feel this way. The most rewarding aspect for the team is knowing our guests are enjoying the atmosphere, attentive service and having a memorable stay with us - hopefully more than once.

Once again, thank you for bringing these to our attention and we hope that on your next visit you will be able to see evidence of our improvements.

Lovely friendly hotel, staff were very helpful, food was great, buffet every evening with lots of choice. Room was fine and always hot water available for showers. The garden/swimming pool areas were really nice, plenty of room for everyone to find some space either round the pool or in the garden area.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the pools and on the 3rd floor are better, not at the front as there is a lot of noise from a large hotel being built

This was the 7th year at the Aloe, and we have found a good improvement to the rooms, beds, sheeting, towels and decor. Also the food was up to a good standard , (unfortunately there was some guests that found it necessary to remove lots of breakfast food hidden in their bags)
Unfortunately noise from the building work opposite was annoying, but I’m certain this will not go on much longer (it’s a shame that the Aloe has lost much of its sea views)
We hope to return to the Aloe and find the best friendly welcome from the great staff who made our holiday so special.

The receptionist wan not pleasant and her English wan not good.
The room lacks basic thing such tea and coffee or even water.

At least the cancellation went quite quickly with no issues.
If you want cheap trip maybe it's your hotel..

Dear Reviewer,

Thank you for sharing your feedback.

We are disappointed to learn that we did not meet your expectations during your stay at Aloe and apologize that we did not have the opportunity to resolve your concerns whilst you were with us.These are not the service standards we are focused on delivering. We aim to consistently act on guest feedback during their stay and prefer to be given the opportunity to do this instead of guests leaving dissatisfied.

Your comments about the front office staff member are particularly concerning to read, and again we apologize that you didn't feel the team's usual level of warmth and hospitality.

I have communicated your other comments to our team here, and again appreciate sharing them.

This certainly isn't the feeling we wish to impart to our guests who have chosen our Hotel for their holidays.
Thank you again for taking the time to write a review.

Kind Regards
Georgios Gougousakis
