I was in Valletta on a personal errand and stopped at for a quick coffee at one of the normally best coffee shops in Valletta.
I ordered an espresso coffee and the service was not friendly at all at the counter. Apart from that I did not even get a small glass of water as should be served with an espresso!
Pity as I know the place from the past as one of the very best! The new owners should check and control their staff better.

Place is filled with history and dates back to 1837 and is still run by the same the family. The building housing the cafe is the old treasury of the knights of St John. The frescos on the gold guided ceiling are by Malta’s most recognized artist Giuseppe Cali and tell the story of this magnificent island. Although the place is enormous, the place runs line a swiss clock and service and food are amazing. Not to be missed. + all of their products are made in-house including the ones made for good travel souvenirs

Our favorite in Valletta for early morning take out croissants, morning coffee breaks or leisurely lunches - inside or on their large patio where the people watching is terrific. Excellent food, superb professional but friendly service. Check out their ice cream and pastry bar too. Highly recommended. PME. Ottawa, Canada

A check the box place- an old cafe, beautiful interior. Packed with tourists. Plenty of seating outside in the square opposite the cafe.
