It's been so long since I've eaten fish that I could rave about, that I don't often order it anymore. I'm so glad that I chose the Turbot tonight because everything about the dish was exceptional: the attractive plating (there's a photo of this dish dated 30 March at their Facebook page), the perfect taste/texture of the fish, the inventive/colorful grapefruit and celery root (I may be incorrect on the exact ingredients) sauces, and the filled pasta accents. Kudos to the Chef!

But even before my husband and I received our food, I had been planning to write a positive review because we so enjoyed the hospitality of Enrico and Vasilena, who were coordinating a very busy Saturday night crowd at their fully booked restaurant, yet went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Not only did they accommodate us for drinks at the compact and attractive bar (including a custom non-alcoholic cocktail that was perfect for my tastes), but they managed to transfer us to a table to enjoy our meal.

I high recommend this restaurant; be sure to make a reservation if you visit on a Saturday night :-)

In the small village of Rabat off the square is this little restaurant down some stairs. After the village celebrated the feast of St Joseph we decided to begin our own little feast, and a feast it was.. Very, very friendly staff explaining the menu and specials. We had a lovely 3 course feast. . Octopus was the best I have tasted. Good portions. Ambiance was perfect and once we finished dessert we were served up a complimentary limoncello which was a nice touch. Thank you Grotto Tavern for the best meal in yet!!

I went twice and hope to visit again, but it will have to be a special occasion or maybe Christmas or Easter time since it's a bit pricey

We ate at the Grotto Tavern in early March, 2017. The decor is beautiful and the staff are friendly and attentive. We were given a nice complimentary starter platter. We both ordered an organic free range chicken dish that was delicious and the chef was kind enough to replace the butternut squash puree with potato puree (since we hate squash). We found that the restaurant was a bit cold (it is a Grotto after all) but I imagine that it would be quite refreshing in hot weather. Recommended!

We stumbled upon "Grotto Tavern" after strolling around Rabat and St Paul's catacombs on a very hot summer day. The restaurant is a bit underground and we happily enjoyed its coolness.
The food can't be described with words, it must be tasted! Delicious and fabulous is the least I can say. Superb combination of ingredients, professionally prepared and beautifully presented dishes.
Nice interior and decoration and relaxing ambience. Vasilena, that lovely lady, who can turn your lunch or dinner into an unforgettable experience, told us the restaurant was planned to undergo renovation.
Can't say anything about the prices because after finishing our lunch, the only thing I was able to think about was the sinfully perfect food.
Many thanks to the chef and Vasilena! She treated us to a drink of Maltese fig brandy!
Василена, благодарим ти много за сърдечността и доброто отношение!
