Arrived in Iceland and wanted some of their Cod fish that we had heard so much about. We asked for recommendations at our hotel & were given several places. We chose to walk to Icelandic Fish & Chips near the water. Our Cod was SO GREASY- would have liked to have had paper towels to absorb some of the grease. Not very tasty at all either. The roasted Rosemary/Garlic potatoes were good.. We each ordered a salad and the lettuce was old, yellow/brown Iceberg Lettuce. We couldn't believe how terrible it looked. Maybe it was the long trip across the Atlantic. We also ordered tartar sauce to go with our fish, not knowing how expensive the tiny jigger would be. It was our first meal (LUNCH) on the first day of our week in Iceland, so when we walked up to the counter to pay, we got our first SHOCK of what we were in for as far as eating in Iceland. Our lunch cost $72.00 (u.s. dollars) let me add---we drank WATER....Come to find out, we had very delicious meals throughout our vacation, and NEVER once paid that much for any of the meals---even dinner meals. In fact, while walking through the streets of Reykjavik one evening, we came upon a beautiful restaurant and their special that night was an incredible COD dish/ salad included, for the unbelievable price of $20.00 u.s.dollars (the romantic atmosphere was worth the $20.00 itself).... My advice---save some money, while getting better food for less, before getting robbed at this Fish & Chips.
