Such a fantastic experience, would highly Iceland Adventure Tours to anybody thinking of snorkeling the Silfra fissure between the European and North American tectonic plates. Luis and Ivan were our guides and they were hilarious and very friendly. They made us all feel at ease about going snorkeling whilst it was snowing!
We did it in -5 degree Celcius temp whilst snowing which made it even more magical. You are given a "teddy bear" thermal layer to wear under the dry suit. I would recommend wearing your own thermals/long johns in addition. Such a weird experience being completely submerged in water but not feeling wet or cold! Only your lips and fingers get cold but you adjust to this after a few minutes, it really wasn't an issue.
We went in 2 groups of 5. Our tour guides took photos of us the whole time which you are then able to download free of charge. We spent about 30-45minutes in the water and finished with hot chocolate and cookies.
The meeting place is easy to find and there is a toilet there.
Definitely book this tour!
