A hotel with Northen Lights

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Oct 26, 2024
Reykjavík Residence is a great Boutique style appartment hotel. The hotel is located in 10 landmark buildings close to each other with the main building in the center where the Lobby is located. We had a great time. The staff in the reception is great and helped us find a great restaurant. After we came back to the hotel we went to the top floor where they have 2 outdoor jacuzzies. We enjoyed there a great view of the City and Northen lights. Amazing !! The hotel rooms are very spacious and the beds very cofy. I will defeniltely come here again.
Date of stay: October 2024
Room Tip: Ask the reception people to help out with things to do. They really are great in helping out.

We stayed 3 nights total at two different times. For both we rented a 3 bedroom apartment for 3 couples. Both locations were very clean and comfortable. We loved getting to all stay together and to have kitchen space to eat take out and relax. While it was a bit expensive the comfort, location, and overall quality was worth it for our group.

A few things to note is the front desk/check-in is not necessarily where your room will be. You may need to walk a few blocks with your bags. One of our rooms was the second floor so there was a staircase we had to haul our bags up. The other room was on lower level. Loved the washer and dryer in the units, but dryer wasn’t efficient so plan accordingly. Left our bags prior to check-in in luggage storage area and went exploring the city. Staff was very helpful and kind. With a three bedroom unit it’s only one bathroom so it be some waiting if everyone wants to shower.

I would recommend and would stay again.

Room tip: We used buses so did not have to park a vehicle. We could walk to tons of restaurants and shopping.

From booking online to email communications with the hotel, everything was so easy and stress free. The staff are great at responding to emails in a timely fashion. All the staff that I interacted with were nothing but professional and super friendly. The hotel location was also pretty central, so everything was within a 10-20 min walk. I would absolutely recommend staying here in a heartbeat!

We had an apartment-style room with a fantastic kitchenette and in-room bistro table seating. I was traveling with my best friend, and the room was perfectly-sized to accommodate the two of us. We stayed in the Artisan House (at Lindargata 11), and it was conveniently located to bus stops #14 & #6 - which were easy pick-ups for our daily excursions. The Artisan House is also close to Laugavegur - a street with excellent restaurants & shopping. From the front steps of Artisan House you can look across the water to the beautiful mountain landscape beyond.

Minimal drawbacks include:
- no full length mirror in the room, just an above-the-sink mirror in the bathroom
- the bathroom sink is teeny, and could easily make quite a mess if you weren't paying attention
- because of the apartment-style buildings of the hotel scattered closely in-town, you have to haul your stuff (suitcases & carry-ons) from hotel reception to the room a few blocks away (unless you want to have a taxi bring you.)

We stayed in the Reykjavik Residence Hotel for 6 nights. We used the hotel as a base for our trip in Iceland. We booked a one bedroom apartment - it was well appointed with everything you need. We stayed in the new building that has the reception desk. It was an excellent location - steps away from the downtown shopping district and restaurants. The breakfast food supplied was excellent with a fresh loaf of bread every morning with yogurt, fruit, cheese, sliced meat, vegetables etc. The hotel even sourced out gluten free bread and crackers for our daughter which was a huge help for us. There was enough food for breakfast and lunch/snacks for our day trips. Definitely book the breakfast service! The staff were friendly and helpful assisting us with various issues. It was overall a great stay and we want to thank everyone at the hotel for all of their help and hospitality!

This was our second stay and we very much enjoyed this stay as we did our first stay. The room works great for us. We get two bedrooms for for the additional space and make use of the kitchen to have most of our meals here. The breakfast offers lots of items some of which we use for lunch. Each day a fresh bread arrives in the morning and is placed on the door knob.
