It was a fantastic stay. The hotel was clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food in the hotel restaurant and the breakfasts was excellent.

Location was perfect; walkable to restaurants, bakeries/cafes, sights and bus stops. Breakfast service offered good variety. We especially enjoyed the bread at breakfast and the warm and delicious croissants upon arriving in the wee hours of the morning from the Northern Lights tour. We would have preferred stronger coffee. Perhaps an adjustment to the room rate or packed breakfast at no extra charge could have been offered by the hotel since we had to check out much earlier than when breakfast was available (4:45 am pickup for a 7:30 am flight). Reception, breakfast and housekeeping service was topnotch! Friendly, reliable and courteous. Room was comfortable and fully equipped. We loved the robes, hangers and spacious, heavy duty safe. However, part of the bed was too sunken for our liking and we would have preferred firmer pillows. We felt safe on the premises for our entire stay. I would highly recommend the Sand Hotel especially to first-time visitors to Reykjavik.
