Great hotel!

We stayed here for a few nights pre-cruise back in May. Great location, nice hotel, and helpful front desk staff. It’s easy to get a taxi from the hotel and just a short walk to the bus stop for buses and tours. We walked all around Reykjavik and had a great time. The room was small but clean. It was next to the street so there was occasional street noise but we still slept good. There is a little cafe there but we mostly went out and about for coffee and meals. Would stay here again.

Perfect Stay

Simply a wonderful stay & experience - - - our best stay while in Reykjavik! So, so glad we made the decision to stay at the Canopy Reykjavik City Centre. Everything about our stay was perfect, which made our stay an experience.
Also, a huge Thank You to front desk associate Hlin. Hlin was our first (of many) impressions of the hotel, when Hlin greeted us upon arrival and checked us in an amazing room. Hlin made us feel like VIPs, which I am sure with her personality, makes everyone feel like a VIP while at the hotel. We were blessed that Hlin worked each day during our three day stay at the hotel, and each day Hlin asked how are stay was going, and if we needed anything. Thanks again Hlin.
The hotel itself is located so close to the heart of downtown Reykjavik, which was helpful as we walked to all attractions and restaurants. The hotel also has a great rooftop open area to relax and take in the 360 degree views of Reykjavik. We especially like the upbeat "vibe" of the hotel. Rooms are spacious especially when compared to other hotels in Reykjavik (which was very much appreciated).
We hope to return to Iceland again, and for sure Canopy Reykjavik City Centre will be our only choice! Thanks.

Highly recommended!

16 days since we stayed at a candidate for worst Hilton in the world we checked into a candidate for the best, The Canopy by Hilton Reykjavik.

Check-in was a smooth easy process with our gold honors status getting us in the room before noon (we had to leave our cruise ship at 9.30am). The reception staff were polite, welcoming and helpful.

The room is well-appointed and spotlessly clean. WiFi was easy to connect and is super fast. The hotel restaurant has earned good reviews and there are numerous other dining options nearby.

Very rude reception staff

Firstly the positives, the hotel is in a great location, near the centre, harbour and bus stop 6 where many tours had a pick up. The room was clean and modern.

The negatives: we booked a premium twin room for my teenager and myself. We arrived before check in time and were told our room was not ready, they would call when it was. We received no call so went back after check in time and it was ready. They tried to give us a king room, not what we booked and no way my teen and I could share a bed. The receptionist rolled her eyes at me and told me I got what I booked and the hotel was full. She kept us waiting over an hour while she “got her manager to look into it” (no sign of any manager) and for the whole time continued to roll her eyes and very obviously talk about us to her colleagues. (I should add that I was in no way rude despite their error)

We finally got our “premium room” that was overlooking a service area. Noisy with early deliveries and trash collections. No view other than that.

The room was boiling hot with heating on that could not be turned off or adjusted, we were given a desk fan that did nothing to cool the room when we asked at reception about lowering the temperature. We kept the window open and it was cool outside but this did nothing to lower the temperature.

Breakfast was a very average buffet, no omelettes or scrambled egg or sausages and the fried eggs were cold.

A shame that this hotel was let down by this very rude (female) receptionist and rooms that were too hot to be comfortable as it’s in a great location

Good Place to Stay

We spent one night at the Hilton. It's one of the newer concepts and you enter through what appears to be a coffee bar. The check in desk is to the side. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Our room was fair sized with huge windows. The bathroom was lovely and the shower was great. Downstairs there is a very nice restaurant.
The back of the hotel faces a courtyard and there is a bar on the other side. That bar shuts down late so you might want to request a room as far as away as possible.
The Canopy has a great location for walking around downtown Reykjavik and is within a couple blocks of the church and very nice shops.
