Modern, well run museum with inoomparable collection. Most come for the Parthenon sculptures but the real stars are the archaic korai statues. Don't miss this museum when in Athens.

My 16 year old son and I are not great museum goers!
But at 8am we were the only people in the whole place. The building is amazing and a great atmosphere without hoards of school kids.
It took us about an hour to see most things - neither of us like reading too many plaques (actually it’s not over plaqued)
The second floor restaurant and balcony give amazing views of the Acropolis.
The breakfast food was lovely (and prices acceptable) An hour or so of calmness.

Enjoyed the A/C and the break from the sweltering heat of Athens. There is cool stuff here, and it made a lovely side visit after the Acropolis. Worth it.

Visit the museum in the morning when you are rested. You can take picture without flash. Look at the floor when walking, some areas are glass to see the ancient ruin buried.
