Located within the Divani Caravel Hotel, in Athens, Greece, is the simply marvelous Brown's Restaurant. When you walk through the doors, you are at once struck by the ambiance and formal decor. This is the place you would want to take your business connections for a power lunch, or to seal a deal over a gourmet dinner. But, there is more than just a beautiful atmosphere here, when you enter the doors you are greeted with a smile and treated with wonderful caring. The service is impeccable, and the food is not only delectable in taste, but visually pleasing as well. There is a wide selection of dishes, but the fresh vegetables are such that they could stand as their own dish. The Chef, Kostas Rigas, is a master at the preparation of dishes which range from traditional Greek, to wonderful presentations of sea foods, poultry and meats. What was truly welcoming about Chef Rigas, was his willingness to work with my gluten intolerant wife, and to make or alter meals to take care of her needs. The food that she had, was in her words: "simply wonderful!" There are amazing wines to be sampled in Greece, and our waiter Josif Malliankias, was a master at suggesting just the right wine to go with our meals, each one a regional wine and his selections for us, were right on the mark, every, single time. Josif's remarkable suggestions for dishes that we would enjoy, helped to make every visit to this place memorable. As you linger over after dinner drinks, it was pleasant to discuss the day, with the Maitre D's Artemios Konstantinou and Nikos Kardiasmeivos, and receive suggestions for other places to visit within the area. Brown's became a place where we could retire to after a day of sightseeing, and have a nice, long and memorable dinner.
