The location of this hotel in lovely Guimaraes is its biggest advantage. Other than that, our room was spacious and very clean, but we felt like having gone back in time back to the 70's.. they do need to renew this hotel. Both the service and breakfast were really good.

The back of the hotel faces the main square in Guimaraes. Access to the Toural is off a street that runs up from this square towards the old part of the town. The hotel reception is down a narrow passage that runs off this street and is not immediately obvious, so be warned.
The interior of the hotel is stylish and modern, with a glassed courtyard in the middle, which is overlooked from the sitting areas. The guest rooms are spacious and well equipped, with comfortable beds and well-fitted bathrooms.
Breakfast in the morning was served, rather than on a buffet basis. This was very efficient and a nice touch. The staff were all excellent and very attentive, for instance being very helpful in booking a reservation for dinner in a nearby restaurant and being keen to ask whether we had enjoyed it the following morning.
As was the case in all of the six hotels we stayed in Spain and Portugal, none had tea or coffee making facilities as standard in the room. If you are that way inclined, it might be worth digging out the old travelling kettle.
Although the hotel does not have a car park, it does have a handful of reserved spaces in the street outside reception. That worked well for us, but might be a problem if the hotel was busy and you happened to arrive late.
This is a lovely hotel. We stayed on a Saturday at the very beginning of October and secured a very reasonable rate on-line. I would thoroughly recommend it to any visitors to this beautiful old town.

Went there in June for few days. Very well located in the heart of the old city so it's convenient for visiting, good service quality of the staff and good breakfast food.
Rooms are large but overall design is outdated for a 4 stars hotel, with very few plugs, and quite noisy due to small guillotine windows with view on a small passage with late restaurants activity.
Once rooms will be renewed this hotel could desserve a very good.

Located right in the centre of the city the hotel offers a unique blend of old and new. Spotlessly clean, tastefully furnished and all of the places of interest are within easy walking distance. A special mention must go to Marta, Pedro and gentile who went out of their way to make our stay in the hotel very special.

Big, spotless room; excellent staff; ideal location in the old quarter of the city. I enjoyed the breakfast service. The hotel is hidden away in a courtyard off a square, making it all but invisible and hard to return to after ambling about the town.
