Lovely area, good transport links to the old town, until about 23:00 then its a taxi. Use the yellow cabs with the blue stripe. Bus is 2 euros per person each way or get a weekly pass to save more. Really good chinese, indian and local quisine food outlets within a walking distance to the hotel. Don't use the Spar shops as they are very expensive for every day stuff, use the Pingu Doce super market, we saved 12 EU on sun oil by walking 200 yards if that.

All you could wish for. Lovely hotel with the most amazing breakfast. Evening meal was excellent with a wide variety of choices. Different theme nights including an outside bbq. High standard of produce used at all meals. Chef cooked the most fab omelette to your choice in the morning and fish and meat in the evening.. Although I went with friends I would be very comfortable staying here by myself.

Just spent 2 weeks here on a half board basis and very much doubt that we would return. This hotel is functional at best more suited to business travellers and certainly not geared up for holidaymakers.

There is nowhere to hang wet pool towels or swimsuits. Nowhere to sit and dry your hair because there are no power sockets near the one and only mirror in the room, so you have to stand in the bathroom to use the hairdryer. There are no mattress or pillow protectors on the beds and the bottom sheets didn’t fit properly.

There is the same loop of music playing all day, every day in the restaurant, bar and by the pool. It just about drove us crazy by the time we left, so god knows how the staff bear it.

However, the worst aspect of this hotel was the food. Breakfast was the same every day, with powdered scrambled egg. On one occasion I asked for a fresh omelette and it was made with one egg! Dinner was even worse, with very limited choices and very poor quality ingredients. We got so sick of it that we ate out on a number of occasions. The only enjoyable thing about the food was the fresh fruit which was amazing.

The rooftop bar is soulless, with mediocre entertainment only a couple of times a week. If you want a decent coffee in the evening then forget it, as the only bar which serves this is the small, dark area next to the restaurant which closes once dinner is over.

Having stayed in many Barcelo group hotels in the past, this one is way below the standard of the others.

Room tip: Ask for a room facing away from the busy road and take ear plugs to drown out the building works which go on all day, six days a week.

Having stayed at this hotel in August last year when attending a wedding on the island during a very hotel spell we decided to return and again chose to stay at the Allegro as it is a good base. There is a lot to recommend about this hotel. We have booked an upper floor junior suite both times
These are much bigger than the regular rooms. Cleaned daily to a high standard. A couple of small disappointments - last time we got a litre bottle of water daily this time it was only on arrival. Also the coffee pods fir the Nespresso machine were replaced as used but this time it was just the four on arrival. We were bed and breakfast most days the breakfasts were very good, but just occasionally the plate warmer wasn't switched on and this made a huge difference. The fried eggs were cooked well in advance and sometimes there are quite cool. The bread is fresh every morning and just lovely. Lots of other choices too.
The pool area is very clean and we always got sunbeds. A lot of the customers seemed to go out for the day on various trips.
This is not the prettiest of hotels but it is handy near bus stops and shopping centres

Dear Anneak,

Thank you for your kind review.

We regret that the breakfast did not always meet your expectations, particularly with the plate warmer occasionally being off. We strive to ensure all aspects of our breakfast service are impeccable and will look into this matter.

We are delighted that you appreciated the cleanliness of your suite, the well-maintained pool area, and our hotel's convenient location.

It is wonderful that you found the upper floor junior suite spacious and comfortable, providing a good base for exploring the area.

We hope to welcome you again in the future.

Let's start with the good aspects of the hotel. We had a sea view junior suite and it was very spacious, with enough place for clothes and beautiful view. The beds are extremely comfortable and you also get a pillow menu if you would like to sleep even more comfy. We used that and it was cool. The staff is very friendly and helpful, if you need anything they will help for sure. The location of the hotel is also perfect - next to the bus stop (buy a 3 or 7day bus card, ver useful) and next to a nice bathing place (14eur for entry l, 2sunbeds and umbrella). Our room was also equipped with the clothes steamer which may be useful for some people.
However there are some downsides that make for me this hotel a very good 3 star hotel and not a 4 star one.
We chose this hotel based on the very good reviews of the food. Well, we are foodies and for us this was the worst part of the whole stay. The breakfasts are pretty much the same every day, the quality is also mediocre, scrambled eggs made from powdered eggs is something unacceptable for me. Very little choice. At the end of the stay I was happy that finally those breakfasts will end. The dinners are also very, very limited in choice. The menu is changing every day, but not every week. The quality of the dishes is also not that high and not consistent - some dishes are tasty some are bad. On the plus side - some dishes, like in the live cooking when you have a good product like tuna or other fish were very good.
Nonetheless if you choose a hotel based on how good or varied the food is, then this is not the one.
Another thing that drove me crazy is the music in the restaurant. Everyday the same playlist with badly sang cover songs. Even lack of music would be better.
The hotel has also a very distinctive
and strong air freshner which may be unpleasant for some people. For me it was.
Bear in mind also that the hotel has 11 floors and only 2 slow lifts where only one is going down to the restaurant.
Another thing that surprised me is that the car rental company reffered by the hotel is one of the most expensive. I suggest using a different one.
To sum all this up - if I judged only the room and stuff I would be happy and say it is a 4 star hotel, but having other things considered I think it is a 3+.
