First of all the hotel is situated in a great location, walkable distance to funchal old town/marina and also to many restaurants/bars. This hotel is within the area for pick ups for booked tours also. Our room was on the 10th floor which had a beautiful sea view. The room was cleaned daily and cannot fault the service from the maids apart from two of our days we had no towels. When we asked reception for towels i was told there was no towels and they were waiting on the laundry service arriving with more which would take 30 minutes- We waited over a day for these towels. The room itself was spacious enough for 2 people and the beds were comfy. We booked a double room and received twin beds which we were able to push together ourselves but was hard to not fall down the gap in the middle. The room also didn’t have many plug sockets, only 1 for TV and 1 beside the bed therefore you couldn’t even use the kettle provided for tea/coffee. The hotel facilities lacked cleanliness especially the pool- there was a lot of dirt/grime around the pool and balls of hair in the pool itself. During my week stay i never once seen the pool be cleaned, the sunbeds were also very dirty/uncomfortable. Breakfast was okay but repetitive same selection every day, we never had dinner at the hotel so cannot comment on this but did notice they had different themes each night. There was no entertainment as advertised which was a little disappointing. The WIFI is very slow throughout the hotel. The hotel staff were also quite rude especially if you went to ask for something they made you feel like you were a burden. We originally booked this hotel simply for a place to sleep but due to the unfortunate wildfires in Madeira some of our trips were cancelled and therefore spent more time using the hotel facilities than planned. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel for any other purpose than a place to sleep it certainly doesn’t meet the requirements to be classed as a 4 star hotel, i would be generous to even class it as a 3 star.

“Leave the hotel or I will call a police on You” yes - those were the words of the receptionist Marco when we arrived to the hotel trying to do the check-in. Are you asking why? Well, our flight to Madeira was diverted due to bad weather conditions to the other island the day of our planing arrival. I sent an email regarding our situation via booking to them explaining why we cannot reach on time. (I’ve heard diverted flights are common in here.) Next day when we finally made it to the destination after spending night on the airport, we reached to the hotel Muthru. Mr. Marco - the receptionist told me that the hotel is fully booked and they gave our room to somebody else, so we can try to come next day!
Is this even normal?! I tried to talk to him about the situation, I’ve never heard you can give the room to somebody else while your reservation wasn’t canceled and it’s still running! That means that We paid for the room and same time they charged someone else for the same. How AWFUL!!! He told me to call the booking and deal with them and he asked us to leave the hotel or he will call the police . In August!!! When is the main season and almost all hotels are overbooked!!!
When we called the booking.com from the parking spot, they say it never happened to them and our reservation is still running in the system. We were lucky They find another hotel for us, which was 1000times better.
I’ve never seen such an AROGANT person and horrible treatment to the customer. Don’t come here.

Great views and central for buses etc into Funchal.
Downside... we were there for two weeks and had very little sleep. The beds are extremely uncomfortable, we moved from one room to another where the beds were even worse.
To top it off some sick deranged person with a sadistic sense of humour had placed a empty vodka bottle under the mattress. Only found it by chance when hubby began to turn mattress.
Did tell staff that when sitting on edge of bed the mattress appeared to roll forward but their answer to this was to put duvet covers on top of mattress which made no earthly difference.
Never got an apology as such just how long the general manager had been in charge and how he had changed 200 mattresses.He said they were orthopedic which was law in madeira for hotels to have. Don't think so, people don't use orthopedic mattresses unless necessary for their physical health.We stayed once before and the bed was comfortable but these were were two singles pushed together.
The place us very clean and daily towel changes etc.Woukd never go back as no one was bothered that it had ruined our holiday and because of lack of sleep it was 1-2pm before we git out as so tired and aching.We are in our 70's so what was should have been relaxing holiday turned out the holiday from hell. Came home wrecked
