This was our first stay at Eden Mar, although we have visited a sister hotel in Madeira many times.
The flowers, champagne and a lovely anniversary congratulations card in our room on arrival was a lovely gesture, followed by more champagne a few days later for my husband's birthday. Thank you to all the staff who made our stay so memorable.
We were very impressed with all aspects of the complex, from the beautiful gardens with numerous sun loungers, to the choice of indoor or outdoor pools and other sporting activities. The area is shared by three hotels, which were all busy, but there is so much space that everywhere always felt relaxed and never crowded.
The suite was very well equipped if you wanted to prepare your own meals, had a big balcony with a wonderful sea view, and was the quietest hotel room we have ever stayed in.
There are numerous restaurants and a large supermarket close to the hotel, and it takes about 20 minutes to walk into Funchal, or less than €2 on the local bus which stops outside the hotel.
Three is a lovely coastal walkway from the lido area all the way to Camara de Lobos which takes you through spectacular caves, and we also enjoyed a very nice meal at the old colonial style restaurant in Jardim Magnolia.
We had a fantastic holiday and will definitely stay at Eden Mar next time we visit Madeira.
