Great place for families. Hotel clean, tired, and welcoming. Lots of amenities and very friendly, helpful staff. Amazing food and great quality. Situated in a lovely, picturesque part of Funchal with wonderful views of the countryside.
It’s a nice hotel , good size pools and clean. Evening Buffett just wasn’t for me - maybe I’m a fussy eater. Snack pool bar is quite expensive if you are a family of 4 lunch will usually set you back no less than €70 but there are other restaurants outside the hotel. A pleasant and relaxing holiday overall.
Lovely all round hotel great base for Madeira €2 bus ride into Funchal only tiny drawback were views of car park if you looked in that direction! Great food, rooms, pools etc
After many years of coming to Porto Mare, we now stay in Eden Mar, so we have the option of preparing meals due to the kitchenette. Very friendly hotel. Room was good. Tiles in the shower/bath were looking a bit tired, I really do not want to see mould in the grouting when staying in a 4* hotel! Maybe rooms are looking a bit tired? One observation was lack of some kitchen utensils, a chopping board would be nice, tall glasses, bowls. Complimentary washing up liquid, dish cloth would be good too. The residence have these on arrival.
I did think the hotel had a policy of no towels on the balcony rails? It does ruin the appearance of the hotel when towels are hanging on show, especially when there are racks on balcony to use. We love coming here. hoping the mass tourism does not ruin the unique qualities of the island.
This was our second trip to Madeira both of which we stayed at the Eden Mar Hotel. The hotel is excellent, clean and well maintained, the staff are very friendly. The food is very good and we particularly like the gardens and pool areas. This will not be our last visit to the Eden Mar and wouldn't hesitate in recommending it to others.
