A wonderful place, neatly situated with a spectacular view from the upper rooms on the see and the resort. Very friendly and forthcoming staff (receptionists and tour managers). We were upgraded to a junior suite with two bathrooms and two balconies. Everything is very clean, tidy and in good shape. Breakfast and dinner were always a highlight during our 5 days-stay.

We chose this hotel having checked out several hotels during a visit in 2024. We booked a superior room with sea view. Stunning view of the sea and the resort complex. The garden areas are stunning. The varnish on the surfaces of some furniture was worn in places and the balcony was quite small compared to some others. This is why we have ranked this 4/5. Other than these things the large room, comfortable bed, big en suite with spacious separate shower cubicle all made our stay very comfortable. As for bars, lounges and restaurant areas, they were all first class. Buffet breakfast and other meals served in bright and smart main dining area with outside patio areas all outstanding. Also A la carte dining area. Four outside pools, big spa block with large indoor pool, huge jaccuzi and sauna. Usual spa services available. All staff very helpful, courteous and smartly turned out. This hotel is about one mile west of Funchal. Might be a problem for the less mobile but frequent no2 bus operates along the straight route between hotel and Funchal. Loads of taxis points. 8-10 euros one way. Coastal cliff top path not quite continuous to Funchal. Same if you walk the path westwards to Camara do Lobos about three miles away. Overall Pestana Promenade provided everything we hoped for.

Welcoming, spotless and comfortable. A wonderful escape. The staff are friendly and helpful to a fault and the rooms luxurious yet comfortable. The largest pool on the island is well-spaced and has lots of shade. We cannot wait to return soon.

Beautiful hotel, with wonderful swimming pools and incredible ocean views. But the best part of the hotel experience was the hotel staff which were super nice both for us and our kids. Even in the end of our stay, they have proven to be incredibly helpful by sending our forgotten articles both in the room and in the rental car.

Just back from a week's stay at Pestana Promenade Funchal. Nice reception area with beautiful view out to pool and sea. Rooms are definitely needing upgraded we were in a superior sea view but the furniture was very tired. Bathroom old tatty shower curtain needing replaced. Our room wasn't very clean there were crumbs left on the worktop area and in the fridge. Bathroom behind the tap was not cleaned and wasn't the whole time we were there. Maid was in every day but felt the room wasn't cleaned properly floor not swept no fresh smell of the maid being in! Our view from the room was lovely but our balcony was very small which was a shame. The pool area was lovely and kept clean the gardens were beautiful lovely to sit in at the pool but the sunbeds were very uncomfortable and worn they are all needing replaced not sure how people could lie on them all day!
There was an indoor pool/spa which was well used by lots of people. The pool bar was ok but thought it to be quite expensive and had a service charge on your bill! It was card only in pool bar and Bar Brezees which we weren't told about on arrival!
We stayed on a B&B basis breakfast was ok quite a lot of choice but the hot food was never hot think they need better equipment to keep it at correct temperature.
For us I felt the hotel didn't flow properly so when you went down to breakfast you walked through alot of wasted space seating area which is where there was a stage then the bar then the dinning room very odd set up. Bar Breezes had absolutely no atmosphere in it at all we went to happy hour one night as it was raining outside there was a band on which were terrible but playing to no audience it just does not work. Entertainment is rubbish we popped into Porto Mare which was a couple of hotels away and as soon as you walked in the atmosphere was completely different. The entertainment that was on in there was fab and everyone up dancing!
If we were to return to Funchal in the future I wouldn't stay here again too many negatives for us I think there are much better hotels in the same area to go to.
