I had an amazing stay in the Quinta de Sao Thiago - I felt like a princess in a fairytale! They have a huge garden with a lot of wounderful flowers, a big swimmingpool, wonderfull, unique and antique rooms and an exellent service - thanks a lot to the manager, Idalina, who is giving the soul the this magic place and the staff for the delicious breakfast (always with a cake :) ).

Room Tip: I liked most the angel, the pink, the green room and the suite because of the view and the most sunlight

We had visited Quinta de Sao Thiago more than 10 years ago and, while the property itself was amazing, everything (rooms, food, service) was a bit run-down and neglected - and not very clean or appealing. We returned last week, a little apprehensive, but the location suited our purposes. What a pleasant surprise! The rooms (we were given a little tour of the unoccupied spaces) were perfectly clean, well-prepared and maintained, full of charm and an amazing collection of artefacts with a true sense of typical old Portuguese style and character. The staff were friendly, cheerful and helpful, and did everything to make our visit a real pleasure. We shall not wait another ten years before visiting again!
(We have had to say "not sure" about some of the optional questions regarding facilities because we did not need those and did not ask.)

When we walked in we were taken back by the antiquity. We were catered to as though we owned it ourselves. It's a 17th century estate. Unlike anywhere we've ever stayed. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. 100% recommend it.

This is a former monastrary which was long ago was tranformed into a georgous stately home. We stayed in the "family suite" which consists of two comfortable bedrooms and a bathroom - with free access to several lovely reception rooms. Breakfast (which was large and one of best we have ever had in any hotel) was served at a huge table in the dining room. Outside there is two courtyards and huge, lovely gardens. And a very large (30m?) swimming pool with views across the valley. Most of the time we had the whole place to ourselves and felt very priviledged. The owner and staff were all lovely. The place is convenient for accessing the sights around Cintra and also quite close (15 mins by car) from the coast. We adored our stay but you should be aware that you do need a car and that the roads around Cintra are narrow and can be very busy. We got around this by driving half way to Cintra and walking the rest of the way (20 mins). We will certainly be back.

I made the booking through airbnb for a group of friends to celebrate a 75th Birthday bash of one of them not knowing what to expect.I have held similar meetings with the same group of friends on several occasions in different countries, but our stay at Quinta tops all of them. We enjoyed our stay tremendously. It's a real chocolate box and the staffs were so helpfull. Luisa the manager was so charming and she is truly the heart and soul of the Quinta. They delivered more than what I have expected!...she even baked a birthday cake for my friend! - Maran from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
