We can't recommend this hotel highly enough - great food and service, lovely gardens, spa and gym. We would definitely look forward to staying there again. It's probably even better in the summer as there are lovely, peaceful places to relax around the pool.

Room tip: Floor 6 in the garden wing with a river view was ideal. The 25 tram stops nearby too :-)

If you find yourself planning a trip to Lisbon, this is the "Palace" to stay in. The service was exceptional from the moment we walked through the door to the moment we left. The room we stayed in was huge, with a patio that was just a pleasure to sit and relax, dine and take pictures from. The grounds were so beautiful, we took walks just to take pictures... I cannot say enough - but I have to say we truly hated leaving! Three staff memebers truly stood out: Suzanne - what a pleasure to see her each morning over breakfast - she made us feel as if we were guests in her home! Jose' and Francisco in the bar/lounge were also outstanding and were so friendly while they gave us incredible service. This is a do not miss hotel!

They could be even higher if they refresh the rooms to make them slightly more modern, but I'm being picky.... Maybe because of the breakfast room (why don't you use your fabulous outdoor areas next to the pool??? and make it less formal....??)

The hotel is wonderful, the pool is a gem in Lisbon (and an exception !) and the concierge are fabulous (the Cles d'Or are so well deserved !)

Don't bother with the location: it's up a hill, and not as central as others, but taxis are very cheap and the concierge will help you !!

We spent 2 nights in this lovely hotel, and I have to say that the staff couldn't do enough for us. As we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, they surprised us with a room upgrade and had champagne and strawberries delivered to our room. We had a fantastic river view on the 5th floor with a nice balcony to enjoy it. The room itself was lovely with views of the lush garden and the river. The bathroom was beautiful with a double marble sink and large shower.

The breakfast was fabulous, with a wide range of bakery items, cereals, meats, cheeses, yogurts, eggs made to order, and about 5 types of freshly squeezed juices. On our second morning, we had breakfast delivered to our room and set up on the balcony, which was a real treat.

The staff were the most attentive we have ever had. They were helpful and friendly without an ounce of stuffiness. We highly recommend this hotel.

Room tip: 5th floor, river view

I first stayed at Lapa Palace in August 2014. The plan was to stay there with my husband and son for 5 nights. My son, however, had apendicites in Coimbra and was hospitalized for 5 days. As a consequence, we stayed at Lapa Palace for just one night before traveling back to the US. That night was just horrible - my son was still feeling sick and we were afraid we wouldn't be able to fly back home. The staff at the hotel was just wonderful. We had booked the rooms a few months before August and used the non-refundable rate. Lapa Palace, however, only charged the one night we were there. Totally unexpected but very much appreciated. Also, even though we were there for just one night, they upgraded us to a junior suite.
This year we decided to go back to Lisbon and stay at Lapa Palace again. We got the same room we had last year! This time, however, our stay was wonderful. As mentioned in other reviews, everybody (thank you, Hugo!) is very polite and friendly. Breakfast was great - they even have mini burgers and potatoes, which my son ate everyday! Our junior suite was big and luxurious and had a wonderful view of the Tagus (6th floor). The marble bathroom is very nice (L'Occitane toiletries). I would like to say a belated thank you for last year and a thank you for last week.
We hope to stay there again soon!

Room tip: The river view suite on the 6th floor in the garden wing is great
