This is a very enjoyable little museum. The highlight was an older film about the sardine canning industry which gave me great understanding and appreciation of the significance of this industry to this area. We also enjoyed the real life setup of the factory - easy to imagine it as it was.

Very well laid out and presented historical overview of the sardine canning industry of Portimao with excellent overhead conveyor system layout which may be unique to this exhibit, nice to see the engineering side so well preserved, go on Saturday between 10 and 14.00 when it has free admission.

Given the high ratings, my family and me had high expectations. However, given that most of the exhibits lacked an English explanation, and the explanations given were very simple, we found it a very disappointing experience. The walk next to the harbor is nice.

This is a must see. The Museum is a old sardine factory and shows how the sardines got into the tin boxes in the good (hard) old times.
