The museum is new and has some interesting specimens of life under Roman and Moorish rule. There is not a great deal of the castle left. It was once very large.

The rooms open to the public in the castle, though few, are furnished with well preserved books and artefacts, and give a feel of comfort and culture.
On a sunny day it's a pleasure to climb the steps for the view across the roof tops of the town, and of course it's a photo opportunity for your album!
PS - when we visited entry was free as it was World Heritage Day; excellent!

It was nice to have a little wonder round, but literally took about 20 minutes to see everything. It doesn't cost much to go in so its worth a look.

Wanted to visit traditional Algarvian village. Went on a Saturday to combine both markets. Just round the corner from fruit market you can find the castle. Entry is through the museum. 1.62 Euros allows you to see the exhibition and go up to the top of the castle. Great views from top.

Loulé is a beautiful place to visit, the castelo is part of his history and feature a museum. all around the castelo you can walk the quite street of the old town of Loulé full of charm and small shops and café/snacks. A place to visit with the family and children.
