Two weeks in a fourth floor sea view room. Can only say good things. A perfectly clean and comfortable room with superb views. Quiet too. Balcony sun from 10.00 til mid afternoon. Slept well every night. From start to finish staff were friendly and helpful, working hard. Breakfasts were of high standard, and though busy they were well ordered and provided a pleasant environment in which to sit. We only ate in once at evening time. The buffet was 20E and offered variety but a buffet is what it was. We preferred to eat out. There are enough decent and different well priced places nearby. The Intermarche supermarket is a fifteen minute walk. That said, we lunched at the hotel's outside bar/restaurant quite a few times and thought it pretty good. There are some nice outside seating areas, weather permitting. The hotel location was ideal for us. With hotels next door not fully open it was really peaceful. We were told that PortoBay was almost full, but it never seemed like that. There was a relaxed and calm feeling around the place. Even on the sunniest days there wasn't a mad rush for sun beds. Falesia beach (accessed down 120 or so steps) deserves its reputation, especially at this time of year when there are relatively few people about. The walk to Vilamoura along the beach is worth doing. You can return part of the way along the cliff top. Round the bay at lower tide to Olhos D'Agua is short and easy. We liked the sea front there: not overly commercialised, a lot of locals. Great for sitting and watching the world go by: a ten minute walk from the hotel by road. We almost thought twice about the Algarve in March. Pleased we didn't. Two or three drizzly days, a chilly breeze at times, but when the sun shines (and it does often enough) it's lovely. But the hotel was the star of the show. A really good choice. Unsurprisingly, there are a lot of returners.

Stayed: March 2018, traveled as a couple

Superb location with lovely views.
Bedrooms were adequate - however a room with a sea view is a must.
Lovely pool with views down to a fantastic beach. Lots of patios / seating areas for looking down to the beach whilst enjoying a drink.

Room Tip: Room with balcony & sea veiw a must

This hotel is in a wonderful location, with pleasant grounds and stunning views.we think it is worth paying extra for a sea view. Breakfasts are delicious, with freshly squeezed orange, lots of fresh fruit and good choice of cereal and cooked food. Staff are helpful and polite, rooms spotless and comfortable. You do ned to be fairly mobile if you want to get down to the beach, but well worth making the effort. A great holiday ..will be back.

Room Tip: Worth getting room with sea view..not worth getting superior room if for 2..it is just a bit bigger.

We have just returned from a fantastic 10 night stay here...we knew before we booked that we were going to enjoy ourselves. We had checked in prior to arrival ( Saves a lot of time) we had a lovely well informed welcome from an experienced well trained reception staff.
Our room was just perfect (room 167) over the hotel entrance. The room was quiet and had the sun on the terrace all afternoon until sunset. Beds had as requested mattress toppers ..so were incredibly comfortable. There are tea and coffee making facilities....a mini bar... air conditioning, balcony, table and chairs plus a desk. A wonderful bathroom with lots of hot water and a power shower, good quality products, hairdryer and ample lighting!!!
The gardens are spectacular and beautifully maintained..I watched an elderly contract gardener work like a well oiled machine on a daily basis ..what a fabulous job he did.
Fantastic pool and facilities are to be found all fully staffed by well trained happy and friendly people.
The restaurant was certainly my highlight of the holiday ..both breakfast AND dinner could NOT be faulted in anyway whatsoever....so much choice and cooked perfectly...I am an experienced hotel and restaurateur, and I was MORE than impressed with the food.
In fact .....I tried to think of something that I did not like ..and I couldn't ...so I put this down to a great team of people headed by a special Manager ...Thank You !!!!
