Absolutely great pub. Went a few times over the week me and my girlfriend spent in Albufeira. Friendly people inside. Friendly staff and funny/friendly owner. We had a really early flight next morning and had planned to only stay for one pint here and ended up closing the pub 3 hours later.

Firstly Not everyone likes the same.... Positives of this place is its big, has great seats to sit and people watch, drinks ok. Negatives of this place..up a few flight of stairs, it's very dark inside n the hostess only seems to make the make gender welcome ....our opinion only as all reviews on trip adviser are

As the female owner in a tough male orientated industry, one of my roles is to chat casually to everyone that comes to the bar. It's a skill as hostess, to be able to talk to my customers which makes the work interesting and enjoyable. Many customers, old and young, male and female, families and couples are friends too so I feel that the observation made in this review is unsubstantiated.
We have recently expanded the bar and have new seating which I am glad you found comfortable to 'people watch'. I think this is a pursuit that we all love to do now and again-I know I have a birds eye view from my seat in the bar!
Being upstairs in a shopping centre allows the bar to offer great entertainment while still close to the popular 'bar street'. It's part of what makes the bar unique and our decor and lighting is subdued as it suits the ambience. On a female note-however young or old we are, the subdued lighting is far more flattering! Don't you think?
It's appreciated that you took the time to review the bar and as you observe, 'not everyone likes the same'.
The Shamrock seems to be doing something right since as you point out the bar continues to have very good trip advisor reviews. I am very proud to say that our certificate has five complete scores.
Please call in again on your next visit as I would be very happy to make you welcome.

Popped in for a quick drink and to see what football they will be showing, got chatting to the bar man. Had a good chat to him, he gave us some great recommendations for places to go and where to eat as well as a taste of the port and brandy. Didn't expect such a welcome, definitely gonna be our "must go" bar for the rest of our holidays!!! Thank you x

Hello and thank you for that very good review. It's a great boost for the staff to get thanked and glad that you enjoyed a brandy and port..it's widely known that it is a good digestive;)
We have all the sport on our big TVs and try to keep our blackboards up to date on the street. This weekend it's the minors final and Dublin v Mayo follows. Looking forward to a great atmosphere and hope to hear you shouting at the tele!! Vicky

This is not one of the best pubs to watch a game. Its up a stairs and the lounge is not big. If there is a lot of people there its hard to get a seat or see as its not big. The beer didnt taste good at all.

The Shamrock Bar is upstairs and most people manage these adequately and down again! This year the bar has 'grown' and we now seat up to 100 people comfortably in the main bar area and our new games room. Cool fans and air conditioning along with lots of comfortable seating have all improved the bar. Whenever we show sport on our large screen tv's there is no glare from the sun and no competition for the sound from other bars. This makes good viewing of the matches.
Our most popular local beer, Sagres is served cold and is only a short distance from the beer store. Aware that the hurling final was on last weekend and although the beer lines are cleaned regularly, this was done in preperation of the big match. If any customer complains about our beer we will do our best to rectify the problem. I cannot do anything about it unless I know. I was there all day and was not approached nor made aware that the beer was not to your liking. However busy we are, you would have had my immediate attention. It is important to the bar that we offer good customer service. We had an overwhelmingly big crowd and inevitably some people chose to stand the atmosphere was great. Usually for the weekly sport, people have no trouble finding seats.
I hope that you had a great holiday and perhaps when you visit another year you will check us out again.

Thank you so much for your amazing comments. The bar means so much to me as I now run it on my own with the help of my fantastically hard working staff.
I really wanted to move the pool table and as you saw it has made such a difference to the main bar. The new games room gives everyone something else to do and is great for families.
Love to see you back soon.
