We managed to get a table despite the place being fully booked for that evening. The gentleman invited us to go for a stroll and return in half an hour. By the time we got back the table was still occupied and sat at the bar for another twenty minutes. Our orders were taken at the bar in order to avoid having to wait again whilst seated. We were given a table by the kitchen access opposite the restrooms - perhaps not the best one, given the continuous waiter and patron traffic. There was also a nasty smell emitted from the toilets each time someone opened the door. The toilets were clean though. Food was not bad, but eveything seemed so rushed that we barely enjoyed the evening. A restaurant experience should be different and more enjoyable! Described in a nutshell, an expensive fast food!!

The last time we went to Taj Mahal was about twelve years ago. We still had some warm memories about the place untill tonight... The food wasn't bad but certainly not the best in town. Service was directed at speed and trying to get us as fast away as possible so the table can be served a second round. So far for a relaxing dinner. Not going there again.

Visited last night on our son’s recommendation. It was very busy but they managed to find us a table.

Poppadoms and pickles arrived at table - one and a half poppadoms for three people. Pickle dishes were half empty. We asked for more and got more poppadoms but no more pickles.

We ordered two of the Golden Bengal set menus which was basically a three course assorted fish curry meal.
Starter of crispy prawns were over cooked so very crispy and dried out and had lost all flavour of prawn. The accompanying chilli oil/dressing was very tasty.

The main course dishes included a dry-cooked tikka spiced fish which was very nice but then a lurid orange/red king prawn tikka massala which was overtly sweet and I think I even had a raisin in mine. It was sickly sweet and masked any of the flavour of the king prawns. Very disappointing!!
The aloo mateer (pea and potato curry) was ok.
Accompanying side salad was very sweet too.

We had to ask waiter three times for a jug of tap water that eventually arrived.

Kulfi was average too - it was hard, not creamy as it should be.

There was plenty of food but we prefer quality over quantity. Would not recommend.

This restaurant is situated in middle of Utrecht and very near to the iconic Dom tower , the landmark of Utrecht city. The central station is walking distance ,5 /7 minutes from the restaurant. The food here is not Indian Indian but a bit tapered Indian. Best dishes to go for would be chicken tikka, tangdi Kebab, lamb sheekh kebab as starters. The curries worth a try would be Dal fry, chicken tikka masala, Lamb curry or Mutton roganjosh . Tandoori naan or roti with pulao rice would be super. There is good vegetarian stuff too. Aloo Jeera , Aloo Gobi, Palak Paneer, Paneer pasanda ! Go with open mind and ask the chef , if you need more or less spicy food, they will do it to your taste. Surely worth a try if you are visiting Utrecht or surrounding area,

Whilst food was okay it was not overwhelming good. Not a bad place to go if you need your fix of curry and there us decent choice of veg and meat dishes. Portions are big and the waiter did not tell us the curries came with rice so we ended up ordering too much. Pleasant enough though.
