This fairly new Brasserie & bar is situated across from the Tivoli/Vredenburg music hall. It used to be a music shop (Staffhorst) but there is no sign of that now. It's very well laid out and has a modern interior. We decided to check it out for lunch and it was quite busy.
We decided to have an omelette with ricotta cheese. Never had that before... and it was very tasty indeed. The brown bread that came with it was also perfect... nice and crispy. After that we had some lemon pie/tart. It wasn't a huge serving, which was good because it had a very strong taste but tasted great. Too big a piece would have been over-powering. The cappuccino and cafe latte were perfect, so someone behind the counter/in the kitchen really knows what they are doing.
The toilets are down the back and to the right. The reason I mention this is because there is a stairway there - with a big black arrow pointing upwards... and you could make the mistake (like we did) of thinking the toilets are upstairs.
One other thing I'd like to point out. There is a counter right in front of you when you walk in. It's the checkout counter/till area and there is a sign there that states that you have to pay with either a credit card or a debit card. In other words, no cash. So, if you're someone who prefers to use cash, which is still legal of course, then realise that De Utrechter Stadsbrasserie en Bar has made your decision for you (you can't). I thought that was worth mentioning.
