Giethoorn is a little village offering a number of attractions. Beautiful old style homes and buildings, walkways along the little canals, boat hire, shops, restaurants, museums, bungalow hire, B&B, cycle hire. This was an amazing surprise. We spent the entire afternoon wandering around and just enjoying the atmosphere. It could also serve as a romantic getaway as seen from the many young couples enjoying the boating and having fun. It is also pet friendly. It is one of the places one could include in a visit to Holland and the rural areas.

Visiting this museum was my primary goal in Giethoorn, as I am very interested in how people lived in the old years. The place is as it used to be 100 years ago which makes the experience really exciting. There is an extra small house with a storage/working space, as well as a dutch water pump etc. Numerous objects used for cooking, learning, playing or even clothes, wishing cards, old ice-skates, tools and bikes are exposed.
The staff is very friendly. Some old ladies dressed with traditional clothes were making fresh stroopwafel.
Entrance fee, regular: 4euro

During my visit, there was an old man who was a guide of the museum. All the guides of the musuem are volunteers and the exhibition is interesting. Some wall paintings are even two hundred and sth years old but look very well and well maintained.

i and my husband went in may for a visit in this little farm-museum. A nice woman told the story about the family whose lived there. She told a lot of interesting and amusing stories. She was very kind and she spent with us almost 1 hour . We thank a lot . visit this museum expecially with children.
