My wife and I have toured most of the biggest museums in the world. This time we came back to Amsterdam with design to focus on Rembrandt and Vermeer. Identified this tour after searching internet. Withlocals put us on a private tour with Rolf. It was such a great presentation. He gave us backdrop to the museum as well as the recent renovation, insight to how paintings were protected during WWII. He took us through thin inspiration and the influences to Rembrandt, who influenced who - how Van Gogh stared at the paintings, Caravaggio’ impact; the rapid progression of Rembrandt’s style and also his life and proclivities. The history of Vermeer was also fascinating and surprising. Was a really great way to sharpen our insights to the Dutch masters of the Golden Age. Rolf was one superb guide. We reallyenjoyed his company and hope if he comes to the States that we can be his ( and his wifes’) host through some of the NYC museums - including the Barnes in Philadelphia ( undoubtedly the second best impressionist collection in the world- almost as good as Muse de Orssay). Great, great value. Our’s was a tour which only included my wife and myself, small is great.
