We were getting ready to cruise to Budapest but had a short time to visit the Rijksmuseum, allowing forty minutes for a coffee afterwards. Although we got lucky, many in our group still had not been served and had to leave and ask for a refund. It had not seemed all that busy when we arrived.

The menu is relatively pricy for both food and drinks. Having said that, our group of four all enjoyed our lunch. It can get quite busy and you must be prepared to queue

We arrived at the Rijksmuseum just at noon so decided to try out the cafe. The food was excellent with many interesting choices. They were very busy but we only waited about 5 min or less for a table to open up. Service was very friendly, but a little slow by european standards! Still, all in all a nice place for lunch or coffee and cake.

but food was quite good: seafood soup = flavorful and not overly spiced; scallops served in a mild cream sauce - very tasty; Caesar salad = lovely, light with all very fresh ingredients!! good assortment of beers and non-alcoholic beverages... staff abounds and even though very busy, you're not rushed!! = all very polite and helpful!! a bit on the pricey side but nice value for $$,,,

I ate at the museum cafe during March 2018. The museum was busy that day filled with several high school and college tour groups. The cafe was doing steady business. The server told us that even though it seemed busy, there is usually a wait to sit for lunch. If there were to be a wait, I'd pass and find another restaurant. That said, the lunch was good but not great. My travel companion enjoyed the very popular cheese and bread topped with balsamic onions and currants. I had the Caesar salad and bread and butter. We split the traditional dutch apple pie. There were about a dozen items on the menu including a cheese plate, a charcuterie plate, two types of soup, three salads, and countless drinks ranging from wine to espresso. We did not have a consistent server. Our meals were also ready several minutes before they were delivered (we could see the kitchen from our seats). In the end, we paid about 38 Euro for wine, still water, pie, and the cheese bread and Ceasar salad. This seemed on par to a little expensive in comparison to what we ate during our time in Amsterdam.
