Tulip of Amsterdam B&B

In attempting to book with Tulip of Amsterdam B&B, their only availability was Studio Central, a separate studio apartment located off Stromarket on Gouwenaarssteeg, about a six-minute walk from Central Station. Gouwenaarssteeg is a short pedestrian street, the area is safe, and the studio on the first floor was quiet. The unit had two TVs, WiFi access, a king-sized bed, a sofa (that could be used as a bed), a separate small kitchen with appliances, table and chairs, and a bathroom. It was located one flight up, but there was an elevator, which is helpful with luggage. In most respects, it reminded us of Air B&B experiences, and while there was no wardrobe or dresser for storage, the layout was quite comfortable. David at the Tulip provided excellent directions, and Tetsuro was there to meet us when we arrived and go over the details. He honestly could not have been more helpful, showing us were the coffee was and how to use the coffee maker, along with answering questions about the studio or touring Amsterdam. Using WhatsApp, Tetsuro kept in touch during our three-night stay and provided information on the King’s Day celebration that coincided with our trip. He also had stocked the refrigerator with a variety of beverages – milk, orange juice, coconut water, soft drinks, water and Heineken. Breakfast was not included, but there are several bakeries and coffee shops that serve breakfast close by – our recommendation is the bakery on Haarlemmersrtaat, located on the right in the first block after you cross the Singel Canal (three-minute walk). The neighborhood across the Singel Canal is a bit more upscale, and we had two excellent dinner within less than ten-minutes walking at Stout! and Max. The location of the studio is, in our opinion, an advantage with the ease of getting to and from Central Station and its convenience to most attractions (for example, the walk to the Van Gogh Museum is 35 minutes). We enjoyed our stay and appreciated Tetsuro’s assistance in making us comfortable.

Room Tip: The house number for the studio is found on a brass plate by the door, along with those of the other...

Highly recommend staying here. Location is right in the heart of town, the breakfast is self service with really great tasty options. The hosts for the place are also very friendly. You don't need to look any further for your place to stay in Amsterdam

The location of the B&B was very central. The breakfast was good. Also the friendliness and the fact that you can drop your luggage before the room is available and you can leave your bags after you have checked out is a plus. The cleanliness is not super. On the first sight it looks ok, but if you start looking in the corners you start discovering the spider webs. We have had luxuory hotel rooms in the center of big cities that had much more than Amsterdam for less than the 200€ this B&B is asking. Most places in Amsterdam are pretty expensive, and I don't understand why. For almost half of this money you stay in Rome, a city that has much more to offer than Amsterdam.

Dear John & Claudine,

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave a review. We are happy to read that you had a great stay with us and that you enjoyed our central location, our comprehensive breakfast and our personal service. We are very sorry if we have missed a spider web. Cleanliness is our utmost priority and we will take even greater care in the future.

Our rates vary from EUR 80 - EUR 250 per night, depending on the season and day of the week. As you choose to visit Amsterdam during peak season around the Easter holidays, rates were accordingly. We always make sure that our rates are very competitive compared to similar hotels and B&B`s in this area.

The general price level and cost of living in Rome is much lower compared to Amsterdam, hence we believe one should not compare the cities.

Thanks again for your input and we hope to welcome you again in the future.

Greetings - David

I have really enjoyed this B&B, because of the friendly and great service, comfortable bedrooms, nice breakfast and a cute historic Dutch touch in the decoration and in the house per se. I'd truly recommend the Tulip of Amsterdam B&B.

Very nice place, well located. Staff very nice and helpful. You really feel at home, specially because guests can make their own breakfast, it´s all available in the guest´s fridge. The room is clean, large and confortable, They give gifts to the guests like water, beer, wine and in the last day, a chocolate box, so lovely! The only thing is that in the bathroom there is a shelf over the sink that should not be there because you can´t wash your face without weting the floor or your feet, but this is just a small detail. We love the hotel and would certainly return.
