Owner description: The Rijksmuseum is the museum of the Netherlands. The completely renovated Rijksmuseum tells the story of the Netherlands from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. Including works by Rembrandt, Vermeer, Frans Hals, and more! Most famous is Rembrandt's masterpiece the Night Watch. A new display of the collection, a renewed building, new public facilities, a revamped garden and a new Asian Pavilion. Open daily from 9 am to 5 pm.

Do not attempt to take it all in in one visit! There is so much here. We suggest you spend a little time beforehand picking a few areas that interest you particularly then concentrate on those and take your time. One of our very favourite museums. The last time we visited there were amazing accordionists playing Bach under the museum - sadly not there this visit.

Very enjoyable several hours spent meandering around this museum with its fabulous collection. Famous paintings well worth seeing up close - with many other paintings and articles that are not so famous but equally inspiring. Skip-the-line tickets worked well. This is definitely a must-see experience when visiting Amsterdam.

All the Dutch Masters, must see.
Long queues so best come early, or on a sunny day when people are outside!

Beautiful collection of works. Audio guide was helpful once you learn how to use it. Even my tech savvy teenage girls had difficulties using audio equipment. Once you figure it out, then you can navigate through the museum at ease. Very big museum, need stamina for this one. Not my favorite of all museums, but certainly beautiful.

The Rijksmuseum was impressive inside as it was outside. Come early to avoid the throngs of tourists who arrive by the busload. Enjoy some quiet time at the cafe to plan out your route. Do get the audio guide. It's so helpful. You could get lost in the maze of entrances but just follow the stairs to get your bearing. And make sure you see Vincent Van Gogh's self portrait at the ground floor. It's so tiny you could miss it if you don't deliberately seek it out.
