Terrible Experience

I booked a King or Twin room, but I'm a platinum member and also have upgrade certificates so I requested and was given a lovely upgrade to a large suite. Yay! All great--until I went to confirm I could have two separate beds (almost every king bed in Europe is just 2 twins and I'm traveling with a platonic friend so I didn'tthink this would be an issue). The hotel said I couldn't POSSIBLY have 2 beds unless I paid $130+ PER NIGHT for a rollaway. The rollaway that they have laying around that costs them nothing, particularly since I offered to set it up myself and wasn't trying to add a 3rd person (which is why I'm guessing there's a charge in the first place). Instead of this solution, they downgraded me to a basic Twin room that is tiny and dark and dingy (peeling paint etc) with a ton of street noise. This trip is to celebrate my friend's work accomplishment and I'm EMBARRASSED to bring her to this property, which is in a worse area than the other reservation I booked. I typically choose Marriott because they treat me well (especially now that I'm a platinum member), but I'm seriously questioning that now! It's been just the opposite here. And aside from all that, it's a bad room in a bad location. I wish Id kept my original reservation but of course they wouldn't let me cancel without charging a boatload. Save yourself a headache and book somewhere else when visiting Lucerne!!

First, I would not only like to thank you for having booked with us, but also for having taken the time to share the made experience with us and being a most valued and loyal member of Marriott International.

I regret to learn that we could not meet your expectations regarding the assigned guest room during your recent stay with us.

We strive to create an environment that is unique for our valued guests, and I regret that the decor did not meet your expectations. The pictures are all chosen by the renowned French architect Jean Nouvel.

We understand that his style might not be everyone’s taste, but as an Autograph Collection hotel, his design is what sets us apart and makes us unique. We also tried to honour your wishes and the next day we have shown you another room which was brighter with two separate beds.

Regarding your concerns, I want to assure you that my team did their best to accommodate your preferences within the constraints of our availability.

While your initial reservation was for a Standard room, our team did the best to secure a twin room for you to meet your request for two separate beds, even though this request wasn’t specified at the time of booking. You have been informed that we do not have suites with twin beds.

I would like to sincerely apologize to you that we were unable to offer you a complimentary upgrade as you may have hoped. As a valued guest of our hotel, you undoubtedly deserve nothing but the best and it is unfortunate that we were unable to meet your expectations in this instance.

If it was possible, I would like to give 0 stars or minus stars, the check in experience was one of the most humiliating experience I ever had. As Titanium member (and Lifetime Platinum member) in Marriott Bonvoy, trust me I have been in many Marriott Group Facility. I used one of the award upgrade to suite room , and get a penthouse suite where we can be three persons, therefore I bring our teenage daughter together in the trip. For 10+ years, Marriott Group hotel has treat us as value members and welcome her despite the booking is not matched. NONE of the Marriott Group hotel has ever charged us extra or even force me to sign a penalty fee ticket for extra person. I was completely disappointed and shocked. The worst is when I feedback it to the hotel, no sign of regret or improvement was found. We just stayed in Renaissance Zürich Tower Hotel, the service and attitude is impeccable, they even told us that she will let hotel that is with a teenage daughter and they take care of the rest.
It is very pity, with a better management and team that can handle and treat loyal members, this facility can be a real gem in Luzern. Now it just looks good outside with awful service. Avoid it if you don’t mind to be humiliated.

Room tip: Please do not stay here, if you have another choice. I have warned you.

As we have already been in personal contact, I will not go into all the points mentioned in detail.

Nevertheless, I would like to emphasise once again that charging an extra person aged 15 who has not been registered in advance is in no way related to our service philosophy or the appreciation of our most loyal Marriott members.

Everywhere on our website we provide information about possible extra charges, as well as the structure and booking options of our rooms.

For any future hotel bookings, we kindly ask you to always indicate the correct number of people, just as you do when booking your flight tickets. Thank you for your understanding.

I hope you had a great time in Lucerne and that you choose to stay with us again when your travels bring you back to the area so we can show you the great hospitality and service our team works very hard to provide every single day.

This boutique hotel was in a great location across from a park, but close to Old Town Lucerne and to many good restaurants. The staff were all great, especially Simon, who was at the front desk. Our room was very large, on the corner and had a great view of the park. The bed was comfy, and the bathroom was nice and had all the amenities one needs. Breakfast was a nice selection and we ate well everyday. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone!

Room tip: Guests can use the fitness room at the nearby Renaissance Hotel, a block away.

It’s not a hotel, it’s more like a bed and breakfast without the breakfast.
The horror story starts from the poor signage;you might be standing right in front of the hotel, but you will miss it. The flag only says The Hotel and you can’t see the autograph collection anywhere.
The bar is non functional, there is no lobby worth the name and the breakfast avoidable. No kitchen is working.
So much so, during the rains, they’re rushing out of umbrellas as they only have around 8 of them

Never go here. Karina is a heartless business operator. As I explained that we need to checkout because we had a hurricane in the Southeast US and I need to go home - she said "maybe a hurricane, but everyone has issues, and we cannot help you" . I was shocked by her response and had to ask her to repeat it and explained again actually happened. Stunning lack of empathy. I stayed over 600 nights in Marriott hotels - this was a first time experience with a GM who lacks any sort of customer service and hospitality... Find another place to go on your travels

It was a very appeasing, relaxing and classy experience at this hotel….
To elaborate, my experience started from the moment i called the front desk even before landing in Zurich to have the “Romantic Moments” package added to my booking….

The response and handling of all my queries told me good vibes already!!

We were welcomed with patience and warm cup of coffee while we reached early before our check in times…..

We were well taken care of, and guided about the city with accurate maps and verbal city route directions….

Also the restaurant staff was very very accommodating and swift in preparing alternatives which were purely vegetarian ( eggless) during our complimentary breakfast visits!!

We offer our heartfelt gratitude to all the below mentioned staff….
