Great boutique hotel!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Oct 10, 2024via mobile
This boutique hotel was in a great location across from a park, but close to Old Town Lucerne and to many good restaurants. The staff were all great, especially Simon, who was at the front desk. Our room was very large, on the corner and had a great view of the park. The bed was comfy, and the bathroom was nice and had all the amenities one needs. Breakfast was a nice selection and we ate well everyday. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone!

Room Tip: Guests can use the fitness room at the nearby Renaissance Hotel, a block away.

It’s not a hotel, it’s more like a bed and breakfast without the breakfast.
The horror story starts from the poor signage;you might be standing right in front of the hotel, but you will miss it. The flag only says The Hotel and you can’t see the autograph collection anywhere.
The bar is non functional, there is no lobby worth the name and the breakfast avoidable. No kitchen is working.
So much so, during the rains, they’re rushing out of umbrellas as they only have around 8 of them
A highly avoidable hotel

Dear saty2,

First, I would not only like to thank you for having booked with us, but also for having taken the time to share the made experience with us.

Providing the highest level of hospitality is our number one priority and we sincerely apologize for falling short of meeting your expectations.

I am very thankful to take on board your feedback regarding the signposting of our hotel and thank you for your comments. I will do my utmost to find a better solution for our guests in the future.
I am also highly disappointed to read that we were unable to convince you with our breakfast offer. If you would like to tell me in more detail what you found lacking, I would greatly appreciate it. You are welcome to contact me accordingly at info@the-hotel.ch

Nevertheless, I hope you had a great time in Lucerne and that you choose to stay with Marriott again when your travels bring you back to the area, so we can show you the great hospitality and service our team works very hard to provide every single day.

Sincerely,
Karina Rink

Never go here. Karina is a heartless business operator. As I explained that we need to checkout because we had a hurricane in the Southeast US and I need to go home - she said "maybe a hurricane, but everyone has issues, and we cannot help you" . I was shocked by her response and had to ask her to repeat it and explained again actually happened. Stunning lack of empathy. I stayed over 600 nights in Marriott hotels - this was a first time experience with a GM who lacks any sort of customer service and hospitality... Find another place to go on your travels

Dear mjp20232023,

First, I would not only like to thank you for having booked with us, but also for having taken the time to share the made experience with us.

We deeply sympathize with your current situation and the challenges you are facing due to the natural disaster at home. We understand how difficult this must be for you.

However, as per the terms of your booking confirmation and the rate you selected, we were unfortunately unable to modify or shorten your reservation without incurring charges. These terms were outlined during the booking process and are applied consistently across all reservations to ensure fairness to all our guests.

Nevertheless, I hope you had a great time in Lucerne and enjoyed our beautiful city.

Sincerely,
Karina Rink

It was a very appeasing, relaxing and classy experience at this hotel….
To elaborate, my experience started from the moment i called the front desk even before landing in Zurich to have the “Romantic Moments” package added to my booking….

The response and handling of all my queries told me good vibes already!!

We were welcomed with patience and warm cup of coffee while we reached early before our check in times…..

We were well taken care of, and guided about the city with accurate maps and verbal city route directions….

Also the restaurant staff was very very accommodating and swift in preparing alternatives which were purely vegetarian ( eggless) during our complimentary breakfast visits!!

We offer our heartfelt gratitude to all the below mentioned staff….

Front Desk Manager – Mara Mani

Front Desk: Simon, Florian, Colin, Timon, Gissel

Breakfast Team: Mazi, Anna, Pemika

Housekeeping: Maria, Natalia, Lorena, Ceila

Oh yeah, the hotel indeed is at a very approachable distance from Luzerne HB ( city center ) and Lake Lucerne and quite well connected by busses and walkways….

Room tip: Nothing to avoid, just trust these people to give you a premium experience!! Mentioned with humble gratitude ❤️🧿

The hotel is in a great quiet location within walking distance to transportation and all the things you’d want to see. The front desk staff were all super nice and helpful. One of them got us a reservation at a very good Italian restaurant last minute on a Saturday night. We got upgraded to a suite which was nice, but the room was not a comfortable stay. The walls and floors are black and dark red. There’s very little lighting in the room. Even during the day, I found the room very dark. At night, it was impossible to see. There’s no light in the closet nor near it. I was digging around in there with my phone flashlight. The night lights near the bed are very dim. The shower stall is very tight for a suite. It generally felt like a very sterile, cold, and dark room. I see that the other rooms in the hotel are different. The one that we got was just uncomfortable to stay in. The window also faces a loud bar at night.

Room tip: Avoid the suite on the 5th floor corner. Dimly lit and faces a loud bar a night.

Dear "sparkishere"

First, I would not only like to thank you for having booked with us, but also for having taken the time to share the made experience with us.

It is with great pleasure to see that you appreciated to provide service. On the other hand, I regret to learn that we could not meet your expectations regarding the assigned guest room during your recent stay with us. Unfortunately, we did not meet during your stay. It would have been my pleasure to try to better the situation by providing a different room, which would have been better suited to your expectations. Our aim is to provide consistently service excellence and to delight our guest with a memorable stay.

As a Platinum Marriott Bonvoy hotel member, I have stayed in many many hotels over the years. This hotel was so different from any of the others - I have never stayed anywhere like it. Autograph Collection hotels have always been a step above in the way of design but I'm still trying to appreciate the design of this one. The room seemed dark - maybe that was because of the bizarre painted ceiling? The lights were either too bright and the neon night lights were too dingy to see anything. The shower was small but worked great. The bed was comfortable but the room was too hot to get any sleep. The AC was working fine but only when you turned it up to high and then the fan was so loud that you couldn't get to sleep. It would be great if the hotel provided you with a sheet to sleep under rather than just a heavy duvet. I would not want to bring children to this hotel as the paintings may be too disturbing - please check out the website before you decide. The staff here are terrific - very professional and helpful. The location is amazing. Right beside a lovely park and a close walk to wonderful restaurants and the train station. Easy walk to all the main attractions.

Dear “deborahjune”,

Thank you for your review and the time you invested in writing it and sharing it with us. The feedback from our valued guests is not only important to us, but absolutely essential in order to find out in which areas we can and must continue to improve.

We are delighted to hear that you had a good night's sleep in a comfortable bed with us and that you were also impressed by the service provided by our staff. We will of course pass on your friendly feedback to all our team members! This is our greatest motivation.

In principle, we pride ourselves on setting ourselves apart from the competition and other hotels. Our exceptional and modern design by star architect Jean Nouvel sets us apart, but naturally brings its own flair. As I can see, you are not quite sure whether you liked it or not, which I can understand. If you are looking for something more traditional, I would recommend our sister hotel, the Renaissance Lucerne Hotel, for your next stay in Lucerne.

Nevertheless, I hope you had a great time in Lucerne and that you choose to stay with us again when your travels bring you back to the area so we can show you the great hospitality and service our team worked very hard to provide every single day.

Sincerely,
Karina Rink
