This was easily the best hotel I stayed at in two weeks traveling around Switzerland.
Service was very good, room was excellent, breakfast was excellent.
All the good:
-Friendly, helpful service at check-in
-Fantastic room, very spacious, comfortable bed (and nearly big enough for two even though it was a single room)
-Big bathroom with wonderful shower
-Excellent breakfast, with choice of very good scrambled eggs, bacon, and more in the buffet or made to order eggs or french toast, fantastic bread and jam, fresh vegetables and cold cuts. A very extensive and delicious breakfast spread.
-Super quiet, can't hear anything from others when in the room
-Well located, not far from the train station and close to restaurants and shopping
-They leave nice little treats for you in the room
-The hotel is a lovely historic property and there's a wonderful history booklet left in the room that gives details of the hotel and of the history of Luzern; there's a definite attention to making it an experience for you rather than just a basic hotel stay
A couple of minor negatives:
There was a motion sensor light under the counter in the bathroom that would come on whenever I came into the bathroom. It's not a great idea to have any light that a hotel guest cannot turn off and keep off; I don't like excessive light, especially in the middle of the night.
Housekeeping was excellent on the first day, even folding my pjs nicely on the bed. On the second day, they were a little sloppy, leaving my things draped over a chair and not removing a dirty tea cup.
I had a small load of laundry done by the housekeeping staff, and I had to call them to find out where it was the next day. They did bring it up right away after that. I was then double charged for the laundry when checking out. However, as soon as I brought this to their attention, they corrected it.
Not the cheapest in Luzern, but overall a very comfortable place to stay and well worth the money. I stayed three nights but would have happily stayed longer, and would stay here again when in Luzern.
